In the sac‐like ovary of the polyplacophoran mollusc, Lepidochitona cinerea, nutritive tissue arises from the ventral gonadal wall of the organ as prominent folds which support the oocytes during the various stages of their development. Each oocyte is enveloped by the follicular epithelium.
