The European corn borer (Ostrinia nubilalis Hübner), ECB, is polyphagous. In Slovenia it causes the most damage to corn (Zea mays L.) and hops (Humulus lupulus L.) but it is also often found on vegetables (tomato, pepper) and ornamentals.

Feeding Preference and Foraging Behaviour of Eriopis connexa on Two Aphid Species
ABSTRACT Aphids are phloem‐feeding insects that cause both direct and indirect damage to crops, reducing agricultural productivity. Among the available pest control strategies, biological control using natural enemies is a sustainable and effective approach. The ladybird Eriopis connexa (Germar, 1824) is a generalist predator known for its voracity and

ABSTRACT Maize (Zea mays L.) is a major annual crop cultivated worldwide. In the Americas, the corn leafhopper Dalbulus maidis (DeLong) (Hemiptera: Cicadellidae) is a key pest of this crop, causing direct damage to plants through phloem feeding and indirect damage by transmitting phytopathogens.

Arboviral diseases spread by Culicoides biting midges have been introduced into Europe by unknown means. A possible route is the carriage of midges with cut flowers shipped to flower markets. We sampled Culicoides in and around a cut flower farm in Kenya; midges were caught in the vicinity and a greenhouse, but not where flowers are processed.

Summary Temperature influences the distribution and performance of both plants and insect herbivores. Consequently, plant–herbivore interactions are likely to vary across thermal gradients, which could affect the evolution of plant defense. Furthermore, temperature fluctuations may elicit immediate changes in defense.
