INTRAGENERIC RELATIONSHIPS OF MAINLAND ELEUTHERODACTYLUS II. A REVIEW OF THE ELEUTHERODACTYLUS SULCATUS GROUP

Nine species are recognized in the Eleutherodactylus sulcatus group, including one species described as new. Frogs of this species group are distributed in cloud forests of Colombia and Ecuador as well as at lower elevations in the western Amazon basin (

Historical Fragmentation in Atlantic Forest Explains the Diversification of a Clade of Mountaintop Bromeligenous Frogs (Leptodactylidae: Crossodactylodes)

open access: yesZoologica Scripta, Volume 54, Issue 6, Page 823-839, November 2025.
ABSTRACT The Atlantic Forest domain is a biodiversity hotspot with remarkable amphibian diversity, including over 700 species, 70% of which are endemic. Most of these endemic species have restricted geographic ranges, often confined to mountainous areas, as exemplified by the leptodactylid genus Crossodactylodes.

Quantifying exposure of amphibian species to heat waves, cold spells, and droughts

open access: yesConservation Biology, Volume 39, Issue 5, October 2025.
Abstract Globally, amphibians face severe threats, such as climate change and associated extreme events. Our goal was to quantify global amphibian exposure to 3 classes of extreme events: heat waves, cold spells, and droughts. We used the MERRA‐2 extreme climate events data and the standardized precipitation–evapotranspiration index database to ...

Simultaneous Detection of Missing Amphibians and Their Fungal Pathogen in a Biodiversity Hotspot Using eDNA

open access: yesMolecular Ecology, Volume 34, Issue 19, October 2025.
ABSTRACT Since the 1970s, striking amphibian declines in population abundances and presumed extinctions have been recorded globally. The chytrid fungus Batrachochytrium dendrobatidis (Bd) is one of the key drivers of these declines. To investigate the potential role of Bd in the decline of Brazil's amphibians, we first used eDNA metabarcoding to survey

Urban developmental environments alter tadpole phenotypes depending on origin

open access: yesJournal of Animal Ecology, Volume 94, Issue 9, Page 1707-1719, September 2025.
Urbanisation has rapidly altered the ecological and evolutionary contexts for many species. Using a reciprocal transplant experiment with frog larvae, we find that urban environments can alter morphological, developmental and behavioural traits at both ecological and evolutionary scales.

HABITOS ALIMENTARIOS DE PLEURODEMA THAUL (ANURA, LEPTODACTYLIDAE), EN CONCEPCION, CHILE FEEDING HABITS OF PLEURODEMA THAUL (ANURA, LEPTODACTYLIDAE), IN CONCEPCIÓN, CHILE

open access: yesGayana, 2003
