The thermal history of the intergalactic medium at $3.9 \leq z \leq 4.3$
A new determination of the temperature of the intergalactic medium over $3.9 \leq z \leq 4.3$ is presented. We applied the curvature method on a sample of 10 high resolution quasar spectra from the Ultraviolet and Visual Echelle Spectrograph on the VLT/ESO. We measured the temperature at mean density by determining the temperature at the characteristic

On the matrix equations U_iXV_j W_{i j} for 1 \leq i; j \leq k with i +j \leq k
Conditions for the existence of a common solution X for the linear matrix equations U_iXV_j ô° W_{ij} for 1 \leq ô° i,j \leq ô° k with i\leq ô° j \leq ô° k, where the given matrices U_i,V_j,W_{ij} and the unknown matrix X have suitable dimensions, are derived.

The $(\leq 6)$-half-reconstructibility of digraphs
Let $G=(V,A)$ be a digraph. With every subset $X$ of $V$, we associate the subdigraph $G[X]=(X,A\cap (X\times X))$ of $G$ induced by $X$. Given a positive integer $k$, a digraph $G$ is $(\leq k)$-half-reconstructible if it is determined up to duality by its subdigraphs of cardinality $\leq k$. In 2003, J.

Inflation with $0 \leq c_{\rm s} \leq 1$
We investigate a novel single field inflationary scenario which allows a transition between a slow-roll k-inflation with $c_{\rm s}$ of order unity and a ghost inflation with $ c_{\rm s} \simeq 0$, where $ c_{\rm s}$ is the sound speed for the curvature perturbations.

Riesz transforms on graphs for $1 \leq p \leq 2$
Let \(\Gamma\) be a connected infinite, locally unifomly finite graph having the doubling property and endowed with a reversible Markov kernel \(p\). Let \(\nabla\) be a discrete gradient, \(Pf(x)=\sum_{y\in \Gamma}^{}p(x,y)f(y)\) and \(I\) be the identity operator.

Matching $\leq$ Hybrid $\leq$ Difference in Differences
Since LaLonde's (1986) seminal paper, there has been ongoing interest in estimating treatment effects using pre- and post-intervention data. Scholars have traditionally used experimental benchmarks to evaluate the accuracy of alternative econometric methods, including Matching, Difference-in-Differences (DID), and their hybrid forms (e.g., Heckman et ...

The structural evolution in transitional nuclei of mass 80 $\leq$ A $\leq$ 132
In this theoretical study, we report an investigation on the behavior of two neutron separation energy, differential variation of the separation energy and the abnormality in nuclear charge radius along the isotopic and isotonic chains of transition nuclei.

An indirect measurement of gas evolution in galaxies at $0.5\leq z \leq 2.0$
One key piece of information missing from high redshift galaxy surveys is the galaxies' cold gas contents. We present a new method to indirectly determine cold gas surface densities and integrated gas masses from galaxy star formation rates and to separate the atomic and molecular gas components.
