Elemental analysis of cetacean skull lesions associated with nematode infections [PDF]
The elemental composition of both healthy and eroded cetacean skulls associated with nematode infections was evaluated. A total of 27 samples of eroded and non-eroded prepared museum cetacean skulls were characterised by elemental (CHN), X-ray fluorescence, and X-ray diffraction methods.

Abstract The sea anemone, Nematostella vectensis, has been used as a model organism in developmental biology studies for many years. This estuarine species has the notable capacity to regenerate its full body plan from small pieces throughout life. Nematostella have been described as having a great degree of cellular plasticity.

Parascaris spp. induced surgical colic in juvenile horses—A Scandinavian perspective
Abstract Background Parascaris spp. commonly infects foals, and high burdens can cause fatal small intestinal impactions. Progressive anthelmintic resistance poses a risk for an increase of Parascaris spp. related disease in juvenile horses. Objectives To investigate Parascaris‐related surgical intestinal lesions, with special emphasis on ascarid ...

Assessment and Management of Root Lesion Nematodes in Montana Wheat Production [PDF]
Root lesion nematodes (Pratylenchus spp.) hinder dryland wheat production worldwide. Montana, a leading U.S. wheat production region, has climatic conditions favorable for Pratylenchus spp. A 2006-2007 statewide soil survey revealed damaging populations of Pratylenchus neglectus, primarily in winter wheat production areas of Montana, whereas P ...

Noncanonical Nucleotides in the Genome Around the Maternal‐Zygotic Transition
In this paper, Kazzazi et al. provide a comprehensive review of the dynamics of nonconventional nucleotides in the genome during early developmental stages, hypothesizing a potential role for these nucleotides in the activation of the zygotic genome. ABSTRACT From the very moment of fertilization and throughout development, the cells of animal embryos ...
