Managing lesser grain borer, Rhyzopertha dominica (Fabricius) adults using radiofrequency heating
Indian Journal of EntomologyRice is a staple food for half the global population and the second most widely cultivated crop. Storage pests constitute a significant issue during rice storage and marketing. Chemical disinfestation of these pests leaves residue on grains and has a poor consumer preference.

Field Tests with the Aggregation Pheromone of the Lesser Grain Borer (Coleoptera: Bostrichidae)
Environmental Entomology, 1984The two components of the aggregation pheromone of the lesser grain borer, Rhyzopertha dominica (F.), are (S)-(+)-1-methylbutyl (E)-2-methyl-2-pentenoate, (DL-1), and (S)-(+)-1-methylbutyl (E)-2,4-dimethyl-2-pentenoate (DL-2). These were evaluated for attractancy to wild populations of lesser grain borers near storage bins containing infested rice. The

The quantitative and qualitative losses in stored corn infested by Prostephanus truncatus (Horn), and stored for 20 wk at 30°C and 70% RH, were compared with those of Rhyzopertha dominica (F.). Treatments included insect-infested whole corn, uninfested whole corn plus ground corn (dockage), and uninfested whole corn.

A number of experiments were conducted to evaluate the toxicity of some insecticides by bio-assay method against the insect pest, Rhizopertha dominica (Fabr.) (Bostrychidae : Coleoptera). The decreasing order of relative toxicity of insecticides in dermal application were fenvelerate (2.09) > malathion (1.25) > Virat (1.16) > profenophos (1.00).
