A review of the biology and control of Rhyzopertha dominica (F.) the lesser grain borer
Journal of Stored Products Research, 2012The lesser grain borer, Rhyzopertha dominica (Coleoptera: Bostrichidae) is a primary pest of stored grains in many regions of the world. A literature review was done to present a summary of relevant literature on the general biology and ecology of the insect.

Field Tests with the Aggregation Pheromone of the Lesser Grain Borer (Coleoptera: Bostrichidae)
Environmental Entomology, 1984The two components of the aggregation pheromone of the lesser grain borer, Rhyzopertha dominica (F.), are (S)-(+)-1-methylbutyl (E)-2-methyl-2-pentenoate, (DL-1), and (S)-(+)-1-methylbutyl (E)-2,4-dimethyl-2-pentenoate (DL-2). These were evaluated for attractancy to wild populations of lesser grain borers near storage bins containing infested rice. The

Metabolites of Lesser Grain Borer in Grains
Journal of Agricultural and Food Chemistry, 2004Many volatile alcohol and ester metabolites of the lesser grain borer (LGB, Rhyzopertha dominica) cultured on wheat grain were identified. Volatiles from infested samples at 80 degrees C were collected on Tenax absorbent, thermally desorbed, and analyzed by gas chromatography (GC) using infrared (IR) and mass (MS) detectors for component identification.

Lesser Cornstalk Borer Control in Grain Sorghum, 1985
Insecticide and Acaricide Tests, 1986Abstract Insecticide-treated and untreated grain sorghum seed were planted in Pike Co, GA on 18 Jun. The test was arranged as a randomized complete block experimental design with 4 replicates. The soil type was a Cecil clay loam. All plots were planted with a 2-row cone-type small plot planter (double-disk opener, press wheel, 32-inch ...

Fluorescent Pigments for Marking Lesser Grain Borers (Coleoptera: Bostrichidae)
Journal of Economic Entomology, 1992Fluorescent dyed melamine copolymer resins were evaluated to determine their effectiveness for marking adult Rhyzopertha dominica to be used in release-recapture experiments. Pigments were retained very well, and marked individuals were easily identified under longwave ultraviolet light up to 21 d after treatment. Little pigment was transferred between

Rhyzopertha dominica (lesser grain borer).
2021Abstract Females of R. dominica lay between 200 and 500 eggs in their lifetime. The eggs are laid loose in grain. The lowest temperature at which R. dominica can complete development is 20°C; at this temperature, the development from egg to adult takes 90 days.

Oogenesis in the lesser grain borer, Rhizopertha dominica(Fabricius) (Coleoptera : Bostrichidae)
International Journal of Insect Morphology and Embryology, 1992Abstract The morphology and ultrastructure of ovarioles in Rhizopertha dominica (Coleoptera : Bostrichidae) are described. Ovarioles are of telotrophic type and are composed of an apical terminal filament, trophic chamber, and vitellarium. The trophic chamber consists of numerous individual trophocytes that remain connected by intercellular bridges.

Food Specialization of the Lesser Grain Borer, Rhyzopertha Dominica F. (Coleoptera: Bostrichidae)
Canadian Journal of Agriculture and Crops, 2020Observations of stored grain, products from its manufacture and materials from plant origin in the storage-silo bases in Bulgaria were conducted from 1990 till 2019 to establish the food specialization and trophic chains of Rhyzopertha dominica F. The insect was found mostly in wheat grain – 49,2% from all expected samples, followed by barley – 18,5 ...

Lesser Cornstalk Borer Control in Grain Sorghum, 1983
Insecticide and Acaricide Tests, 1986Abstract Two experiments were planted (36-inch rows) on 31 Aug (Test l)and 20 Sep (Test 2) in Spalding Co, GA. The soil type was a Cecil loamy clay soil. Materials were applied 2 days after each planting in randomized complete blocks with 4 replicates.
