ABSTRACT Fish migration through river networks is essential for completing life cycles and accessing critical habitats, but fragmentation increasingly disrupts spawning movements. In Europe, over one million barriers limit connectivity and create trade‐offs between ecological integrity and human uses, such as hydropower, flood control, fisheries and ...

Comparing Aquatic Environmental DNA Collection Methods Across a Diel Cycle in a Lotic System
Water samples were collected over 25 h from the Tangipahoa River, Louisiana, using active and passive environmental DNA methods to detect fish assemblages. Active sampling involved collecting water samples at hourly intervals for 25 h, whereas passive sampling deployed a stationary filter for 25 h.

A new super narrow-ranged endemic Phoxinus minnow (Leuciscidae) from the Caucasus [PDF]
A new species, Phoxinus ayukensis sp. nov., from the Kuban basin (Northwestern Caucasus) is described. This species has an extremely narrow range of approximately 5–7 km in a seasonally almost drying stream within the karstic region.

Morphological similarity between an intruder and a native species can hinder the detection of the intruder. The undetected non-native species will thus have more time to affect the local ecosystem and spread. This paper describes an instance of unnoticed
