Radiochromic leuco dye micelle hydrogels: I. Initial investigation

Physics in Medicine and Biology, 2009
This investigation reports the use of surfactants and colorless leuco triarylmethane dyes to form a new class of radiochromic micelle hydrogels for three-dimensional (3D) water-equivalent dosimetry. Gelatin gel samples with several surfactants and leuco dyes were prepared and evaluated for optical transparency, dose sensitivity and diffusion rates. The

AROMATIC ALDEHYDE-LEUCO DYE PHOTOXIDATION

Pure and Applied Chemistry, 1977
Tris (dimethylaminophenyl) methane leuco dyes undergo rapid photoxidation together with aromatic aldehydes. Quantum yields for dye formation in film media are ~750. A practical photoimaging system based on this chemistry was developed. The chemical aspects of sensitization, achievement of dark stability, and the rendering of the films photo-insensitive

Polymethine Dye Synthesis and Its Leuco Property Investigation

Molecular Crystals and Liquid Crystals, 2007
Polymethine dyes have been synthesized using bis-dimethylaminophenylethylene compound. These dyes can be converted to the colorless leuco form by the treatment with alkali. Interestingly, these leuco dyes showed reversible color formation properties with following acid addition.

Electrochemical control of luminescence color using luminescent leuco dye derivatives

Journal of the Society for Information Display, 2021
AbstractElectrochemical switching of luminescence color, that is, electrofluorochromism, has received increasing attention because of its extensive applications. In this study, we investigate the combination of a luminescent EC molecule and a blue luminescent molecule to achieve electrochemical control of luminescence color by controlling the energy ...

Equilibrium Adsorption Values of Leuco Vat Dyes on Cotton

Journal of the Society of Dyers and Colourists, 1957
The equilibrium adsorption of a series of leuco vat dyes on cotton has been measured in various concentrations of sodium chloride and sodium hydroxide. From the results the thermodynamic affinities have been calculated. Deviations from theory are observed in so far as the affinities are not constant, but show a regular drift as the concentration of ...

The Chemistry of Fluoran Leuco Dyes

2005
In our information-oriented society, computer and facsimile are being widely used as a means for transmitting information. Carbonless copying papers and thermosensitive recording papers, which utilize a color-formation reaction between leuco dyes and acidic compounds, have won high regard as recording papers used with these office machines.

Importance of Solvent Polarity in the Equilibrium Reaction of Leuco Dye and Developer

Chemistry Letters, 2006
Abstract The absorbance of the leuco dye and developer solution system showed a maximum by the change of solvent polarity, and a clear correlation between the ratio of coloring species at the maximum and the dielectric constant of polar solvents has been revealed.
