Antixenosis resistance to leaf miner Leucoptera coffeella in Coffea species

Euphytica, 2011
The coffee leaf miner, Leucoptera coffeella, is the most important pest of Coffea arabica plantations in Brazil, and all cultivars are susceptible to the insect. However, distinct reactions have been observed in other species, such as C. congensis and C. canephora.

Phenol Contents, Oxidase Activities, and the Resistance of Coffee to the Leaf Miner Leucoptera coffeella

Journal of Chemical Ecology, 2006
We examined the role of phenolic compounds, and the enzymes peroxidase and polyphenol oxidase, in the expression of resistance of coffee plants to Leucoptera coffeella (Lepidoptera: Lyonetiidae). The concentrations of total soluble phenols and chlorogenic acid (5-caffeoylquinic acid), and the activities of the oxidative enzymes peroxidase (POD) and ...

Leucoptera coffeella

2019
Leucoptera coffeella (Guérin-Mèneville & Perrottet, 1842 (Lepidoptera: Lyonetiidae) The African continent is considered as the region of origin of the coffee leaf miner, which has spread throughout the world and is present in all regions where coffee is grown.

EFEITOS DE INSETICÍDAS E FUNGICÍDAS SOB A OVIPOSIÇÃO DO BICHO-MINEIRO (LEUCOPTERA COFFEELLA)

2022
A alta taxa de oviposição é um fator importante para o sucesso dos insetos no ambiente. O bicho mineiro-do-cafeeiro, Leucoptera coffeella (Guérin-Méneville & Perrottet, 1842) (Lepidoptera: Lyonetiidae) é considerada a principal praga do cafeeiro. Para um posicionamento adequado e um controle eficiente, é necessário conhecer a biologia do inseto e ...

The Leucoptera Leaf Miners of Coffee on Kilimanjaro. I.—Leucoptera coffeella, Guér

Bulletin of Entomological Research, 1948
Two leaf miners of coffee, Leucoptera coffeella and L. caffeina are present in the Kilimanjaro and Usambara districts of Tanganyika. The life-histories of L. coffeella and its parasites and a study made during 1937–40 of the populations of the host and its parasites in the Kilimanjaro area in both unshaded and shaded coffee are described.

Hidden target, hidden effects: chlorantraniliprole on the coffee leaf miner (Leucoptera coffeella)

Ecotoxicology
Agricultural insecticide usage presents a complex challenge, particularly when addressing hidden targets such as concealed pest species. Typically, insecticide spraying targets either the host plant or the soil substrate, reaching the target when the pests move or feed, yet their vulnerability when concealed remains low.

Comportamento de acasalamento do bicho-mineiro-do-cafeeiro, Leucoptera coffeella (Guérin-Mèneville) (Lepidoptera: Lyonetiidae) [PDF]

open access: yesNeotropical Entomology, 2007

The effects of thiamethoxam on coffee seedling morphophysiology and Neotropical leaf miner (Leucoptera coffeella) infestations

Pest Management Science, 2022
AbstractBACKGROUNDCoffee (Coffea arabica L.) is one of the main commodities produced in Brazil. Insecticides like the (systemic) neonicotinoid thiamethoxam are widely used to suppress pest populations during coffee production, in particular the Neotropical leaf miner (Leucoptera coffeella Guérin‐Mèneville & Perrottet, 1842) (Lepidoptera ...

Isolation and characterization of Coffea genes induced during coffee leaf miner (Leucoptera coffeella) infestation

Plant Science, 2005
Coffea arabica, one of the most important breeding species in the world, is susceptible to the leaf miner Leucoptera coffeella, which causes severe damage to coffee plantations. A closely related coffee species (Coffea racemosa) resistant to this insect was crossed with C.

A Proposed Origin of the Coffee Leaf-miner, Leucoptera coffeella (Guerin-Meneville) (Lepidoptera: Lyonetiidae)

Bulletin of the Entomological Society of America, 1984
Leucoptera coffeella , one of the most serious coffee pests in the New World, is considered an introduced species, suitable for classical biological control, although its exact origin is uncertain. Three pieces of evidence—(1) the little noticed presence of L.
