Novel Immune TiO2 Photoluminescence Biosensors for Leucosis Detection

open access: yesProcedia Engineering, 2012
Novel immune photoluminescent biosensor, based on TiO2 nanoparticles, for retroviral leucosis detection has been developed. The photoluminescence spectra were excited by solid state laser with wavelength 355nm and measured in the range of 370-800nm ...

Studies on Bovine Leucosis IX. Excretion of Bovine Leucosis Virus

Zentralblatt für Veterinärmedizin Reihe B, 2010
Summary Excretion of bovine leucosis virus (BLV) in cattle affected with enzootic bovine leucosis was examined by contact exposure and by the inoculation of saliva, urine and faecal material using three-months-old sheep and newborn lambs. Only 5 of 17 cattle had BLV in their saliva.

Enzootic bovine leucosis

Veterinary Record, 1978
Enzootic bovine leucosis is associated with infection by bovine leucosis virus. The incubation period is measured in years and a minority of infected animals develop clinical signs. The disease is widespread in Europe and elsewhere and can cause significant economic loss.

ACTIVATION OF LYMPHOID LEUCOSIS IN CHICKS BY IRRADIATION

Acta Pathologica Microbiologica Scandinavica Section A Pathology, 1973
Two strains of commercially bred chicks (White Leghorn and Babcock), and one strain of “leucosis‐free” chicks (White Leghorn‐SPAFAS) were treated with whole‐body irradiation. This treatment enhanced the incidence of lymphoid leucosis in the commercially bred animals; with the highest dose of irradiation employed (300 rad × 4), 20 per cent of the ...

Enzootic leucosis in a flock of sheep in Rhodesia

Veterinary Record, 1976
Fourteen cases of lymphosarcoma occurred in a small experimental flock of sheep in Rhodesia. There appeared to be horizontal spread and the ages of the affected animals varied from one to more than 10 years. Thirteen of the cases so far diagnosed were leucaemic with a high lymphocyte count.

HAEMATOLOGICAL INVESTIGATION OF A MULTIPLE CASE LEUCOSIS HERD

Australian Veterinary Journal, 1979
SUMMARY: Adult cattle in a Queensland dairy herd with a history of deaths from lymphosarcoma were sampled regularly over a 4 year period for the identification of animals with persistent lymphocytosis (PL). Twenty‐one of 94 animals that were sampled at least 6 times had PL. At the initial sampling 27% of the animals had lymphocytosis.
