The leukocyte count in labor

American Journal of Obstetrics and Gynecology, 1985
The leukocyte count was evaluated in 479 laboring gravida women. Increasing leukocyte counts appeared to be linearly related to the duration of elapsed labor (y = 0.2174x + 10.31; p less than 0.001; 95% confidence interval of the slope = 0.1414 to 0.2934).

Leukocyte count and bronchial hyperresponsiveness

open access: yesJournal of Allergy and Clinical Immunology, 1988
The relationship of total and differential blood leukocyte counts with bronchial methacholine response was studied in a population-based sample of 324 men. Geometric mean total leukocyte counts were significantly higher in reactors (6567 cells/mm3) than in nonreactors (5732 cells/mm3; p = 0.003).

The Leukocyte Count and Cancer Mortality

American Journal of Epidemiology, 1991
A previous report that the leukocyte count was related to mortality from cancer was evaluated in two large groups of multiphasic health examinees in the San Francisco Bay area, California--a cohort of about 25,000 persons followed up for mortality and a cohort of about 160,000 persons followed up for cancer incidence between 1964 and 1980.

Differential Leukocyte Count Method for Bovine Low Somatic Cell Count Milk [PDF]

open access: yesJournal of Dairy Science, 2003
Whereas many differential leukocyte count methods for high somatic cell count (SCC) milk from mastitic cows are available, only a few have been developed for low SCC milk.

High Leukocyte Count Is Associated With Peripheral Vascular Dysfunction in Individuals With Low Cardiovascular Risk [PDF]

open access: yesCirculation Journal, 2013
BACKGROUND: Vascular dysfunction is a surrogate marker of early-stage atherosclerosis. Serum leukocyte count is a non-traditional risk factor of cardiovascular (CV) disease and has predictive value for CV outcome. The aim of this study was to investigate

Smoking Habits and the Leukocyte Count

Archives of Environmental Health: An International Journal, 1973
In 86,488 multiphasic examinations, mean leukocyte counts were highest in cigarette smokers, intermediate in ex-cigarette and cigar or pipe smokers, and lowest in nonsmokers. Among the races, whites had the highest, yellows next, and blacks the lowest leukocyte counts. The leukocyte count was related to quantity smoked, inhalation, and smoking duration.

Leukocyte counts and cerebrovascular disease

Journal of Chronic Diseases, 1982
Elevated total leukocyte count in a biennial examination period is shown to be a significant (p = 0.001) predictor of cerebral infarction (CI) incidence in the subsequent 2 yr examination period, in a large Japanese cohort study. This association is not explainable on the basis of corresponding age, sex or blood pressure levels. The extent to which the

Elevated leukocyte count is associated with periodontitis in Korean adults: the 2012–2014 KNHANES

open access: yesOral Diseases, 2017
Objective : Both an elevated leukocyte count and periodontitis share well-recognized associations with cardiometabolic diseases. This cross-sectional study aimed to identify whether the leukocyte count is associated with periodontitis in a nationally ...
