Reconciling Landmarks and Level Sets [PDF]

open access: yes18th International Conference on Pattern Recognition (ICPR'06), 2006
Shape warping is a key problem in statistical shape analysis. This paper proposes a framework for geometric shape warping based on both shape distances and landmarks. Our method is compatible with implicit representations and a matching between shape surfaces is provided at no additional cost.

Hospitalization Through Families’ Eyes: Comparing Inpatient Care Quality for Children With Sickle Cell Disease and Cystic Fibrosis in Canada

open access: yesPediatric Blood &Cancer, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Background Sickle cell disease (SCD) is a chronic, inherited hemoglobinopathy that requires frequent hospitalization for disease‐related complications. Canadian data on inpatient care is limited. This study compared caregiver‐reported hospital experiences of children with SCD to those with cystic fibrosis (CF), a chronic, autosomal recessive ...

Level Sets and the Uniqueness of Measures [PDF]

open access: yesJournal of the London Mathematical Society, 1993
A result of Nymann is extended to show that a positive $σ$-finite measure with range an interval is determined by its level sets. An example is given of two finite positive measures with range the same finite union of intervals but with the property that one is determined by its level sets and the other is not.

Serological Benefit of SARS‐CoV‐2 Vaccination Relative to Infection in Children With Acute Lymphoblastic Leukemia

open access: yesPediatric Blood &Cancer, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Background Children with acute lymphoblastic leukemia (ALL) are at risk of severe outcomes from SARS‐CoV‐2 (SCV2). In the post‐pandemic context, where most children have been infected with SCV2, there are limited data on whether vaccination remains beneficial in children with ALL.

Active Contours Driven by Local and Global Region-Based Information for Image Segmentation

open access: yesIEEE Access, 2020
Intensity inhomogeneity and noise are two major parts in image segmentation. Aiming at these problems, this work proposes a novel hybrid active contour method which combines local and global statistical information into an improved signed pressure force (

Deep Sequencing of FLT3‐ITD Enables Response Evaluation and Post‐Treatment Monitoring in Childhood AML: An Exploratory Study

open access: yesPediatric Blood &Cancer, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Background An internal tandem duplication in the gene encoding Fms‐like tyrosine kinase 3 (FLT3‐ITD) is associated with high relapse risk and poor prognosis in acute myeloid leukemia (AML) and plays a crucial role in treatment decisions. Measurable residual disease (MRD) analysis of FLT3‐ITD during and after treatment has shown prognostic ...

Underwater Object Segmentation Integrating Transmission and Saliency Features

open access: yesIEEE Access, 2019
Various types of knowledge and features have been explored for level set-based segmentation. On the ground, the prior knowledge and carefully-designed features perform well to identify the foreground-background contrast, which improves the performance of

On coupling and “vacant set level set” percolation

open access: yesElectronic Communications in Probability, 2019
In this note we discuss vacant set level set percolation on a transient weighted graph. It interpolates between the percolation of the vacant set of random interlacements and the level set percolation of the Gaussian free field. We employ coupling and derive a stochastic domination from which we deduce in a rather general set-up a certain monotonicity ...
