Performance characteristics of the lever-van shock absorber with the hinge-lever control mechanism
The article presents a fundamentally new example of a passive lever-blade shock absorber with an articulated lever mechanism for controlling its operating characteristic, the use of which is effective as part of the torsion bar suspension of a tracked ...

Understanding MOF Flexibility: An Analysis Focused on Pillared Layer MOFs as a Model System
Flexible Metal‐Organic Frameworks respond to molecular or physical stimuli with spontaneous pore opening or closing, leading to applications in gas separation, storage, sensing, actuation etc. The review provides insights into decisive factors affecting switchability gained from combined simulations, in situ characterization methods and the dedicated ...

Worlding on the Hudson: Frederic Church and Global Histories of Art
The ‘Persian’ interior of the American landscape painter Frederic Church is a place crowded with paintings, objects and architectural ornament orchestrated as an installation that the artist both accrued and designed over a thirty‐year period. This regional orientalism, with its cosmopolitan claims and internationally networked cultural politics, is ...

Structural switchability, accompanied by a large breathing amplitude of the unit cell, is a unique phenomenon in flexible metal–organic frameworks (MOFs). Recent advances in the development of in situ spectroscopic (optical, nuclear magnetic and electron paramagnetic resonance) and diffraction (X‐ray, neutron and electron) techniques for monitoring the

Green swans and blue skies: Climate change and insolvency risk for financial institutions
Abstract This lecture in honour of the late Gabriel Moss QC and Ian Fletcher QC examines the challenge of climate‐related financial risk. Prudential regulators and central banks recognize that the systemic nature of climate‐related financial risk makes it an emerging vulnerability relevant to cross‐border insolvency resolution.

A Hands‐On Guide to Brewing and Analyzing Beer in the Laboratory
Abstract Beer would not exist without microbes. During fermentation, yeast cells convert cereal‐derived sugars into ethanol and CO2. Yeast also produces a wide array of aroma compounds that influence beer taste and aroma. The complex interaction between all these aroma compounds results in each beer having its own distinctive palette.
