Electron elastic scattering off a spin-polarized Cr atom

open access: yes, 2014
Electron elastic scattering off a spin-polarized Cr(...$3d^{5}4s^{1}$, $^{7}S$) atom is theoretically studied in the region of electron energies up to $15$ eV using both a one-electron "spin-polarized" Hartree-Fock and multielectron "spin-polarized ...

Robust performance evaluation of independent agents

open access: yesTheoretical Economics, Volume 19, Issue 3, Page 1151-1184, July 2024.
A principal provides incentives for independent agents. The principal cannot observe the agents' actions, nor does she know the entire set of actions available to them. It is shown that an anti‐informativeness principle holds: very generally, robustly optimal contracts must link the incentive pay of the agents.

Spatial 't Hooft loop to cubic order in hot QCD II

open access: yes, 2004
In this paper we provide an exact formula for the area law of the 't Hooft loop for any SU(N) gauge group to cubic order in hot gauge theory. The correction is very small for all temperatures above $T_c$, in stark contrast to the cubic correction to ...

On the Ethical Priority of Problem Solving in Case‐Based Teacher Ethics: Grounding an Anti‐Oppressive Approach

open access: yesEducational Theory, Volume 74, Issue 3, Page 358-370, June 2024.
Abstract A central problem for phronetic case‐based approaches to the ethics of teaching lies in the proper determination of normative ethical problems. Judgments about the character of normative ethical problems depend in part on background beliefs about what is (or is not) of ethical value.

Quantum Energies of Interfaces

open access: yes, 2001
We present a method for computing the one-loop, renormalized quantum energies of symmetrical interfaces of arbitrary dimension and codimension using elementary scattering data.

Evaluation of the X‐ray/EUV Nanolithography Facility at AS through wavefront propagation simulations

open access: yesJournal of Synchrotron Radiation, Volume 31, Issue 3, Page 485-492, May 2024.
The optical performance and suitability for EUV interference lithography of the soft X‐ray beamline of the Australian Synchrotron is evaluated through comparisons of partially coherent simulation and experimental measurements.Synchrotron light sources can provide the required spatial coherence, stability and control to support the development of ...

Dynamics of an Acoustic Polaron in One-Dimensional Electron-Lattice System

open access: yes, 1996
The dynamical behavior of an acoustic polaron in typical non-degenerate conjugated polymer, polydiacetylene, is numerically studied by using Su-Schrieffer-Heeger's model for the one dimensional electron-lattice system.

Almost Periodic Solutions and Global Attractors of Non-autonomous Navier-Stokes Equations

open access: yes, 2004
The article is devoted to the study of non-autonomous Navier-Stokes equations. First, the authors have proved that such systems admit compact global attractors.

Thermal Fluctuations of Induced Fermion Number

open access: yes, 2001
We analyze the phemomenon of induced fermion number at finite temperature. At finite temperature, the induced fermion number $$ is a thermal expectation value, and we compute the finite temperature fluctuations, $(\Delta N)^2=-^2$.
