Levitation forces in bearingless permanent magnet motors

IEEE International Magnetics Conference, 1999
Bearingless motors combine brushless AC-motors with active magnetic bearings by the integration of two separate winding systems (torque and radial levitation force windings with different pole pairs) in one housing. This paper gives an insight into the influences of the motor design on the levitation force and torque generation.

Magnetic Levitation Control by Attractive Force Compensation

IFAC Proceedings Volumes, 1994
This paper presents a laboratory experimental apparatus of a magnetic levitation system. This is a project to train students to get used to a real-time control and control system design based on the state space. The perturbation of parameters like self-inductance and the mass of the load are compensated by using the annihilator polynomial.

Increase of holding force in near-field acoustic levitation of tabular object inserted between opposing vibration sources

Japanese Journal of Applied Physics, 2019
The holding force acting on a levitated object in a near-field acoustic levitation apparatus was examined in an effort to increase acoustic levitation between opposing vibration sources.

Development of a magnetic levitation force microscope

Surface and Interface Analysis, 1999
Classical atomic force microscopes use a soft cantilever spring to convert the interaction between a tip and a surface into a displacement. This leads to indirect force measurement and instability in the case of attractive forces. We have developed a new kind of force sensor to overcome these limitations.

Measurement of Magnetic Levitation Forces Using Scales

2019
This chapter presents an easy way to measure the magnetic levitation force of a superconductor using a kitchen or electronic scale. The principle of measuring the weight using a kitchen scale, which is a type of mechanical scale, is as follows. When placing the object on the top plate of the kitchen scale, the weight of the object is transmitted to the
