Adaptive Weighting Ensemble Approach for High‐Fidelity PM10 Forecasting via Evolutionary TCN and Bidirectional GRU

open access: yesAdvanced Theory and Simulations, Volume 9, Issue 8, August 2026.
A novel adaptive weighted ensemble framework integrating BiGRU, enhanced attention‐based TCN, and linear regression improves one‐hour‐ahead PM10 forecasting by jointly capturing sequential dependencies, multi‐scale temporal patterns, and residual linear relationships.

The ageing holobiont: crosstalk between telomere dynamics, oxidative stress and the gut microbiome

open access: yesBiological Reviews, Volume 101, Issue 4, Page 1877-1903, August 2026.
ABSTRACT The gut tissue is at the frontline of early onset of ageing. It exhibits high cell turnover rates and rapid telomere shortening, which can have systemic effects on the developing or senescing organism. We conducted a literature review of studies on the crosstalk between telomere length dynamics, telomerase activity, oxidative stress, and gut ...

Defying Expectations: Extended Lifespan and Age‐Related Telomere Dynamics in the Tropical Bat Species, Molossus molossus

open access: yesEcology and Evolution, Volume 16, Issue 8, August 2026.
We investigated age‐related telomere dynamics in the tropical bat Molossus molossus using a long‐term mark‐recapture study of 492 individuals from Panama. We documented a female surviving to at least 13 years, more than doubling the previously reported maximum lifespan, while finding no consistent evidence of age‐related telomere shortening.

Being Gatekeepers in the Community: The Perceived Role of Sexual Abuse Prevention Team Activists in Local Communities

open access: yesJournal of Community Psychology, Volume 54, Issue 6, August 2026.
ABSTRACT In recent years, there has been a notable increase in social awareness of sexual abuse, leading to the development of diverse prevention models. In Israel, a unique model of community‐based prevention teams operates in 300 communities, utilizing volunteer activists.

One Health Insights From Pteropus medius: Nipah Virus Spillover, Microbiota, and Antimicrobial Resistance

open access: yesMicrobiologyOpen, Volume 15, Issue 4, August 2026.
Environmental and anthropogenic drivers of antibiotic resistance dissemination. The cycle reinforces how anthropogenic inputs, such as sewage, animal dung, hospital effluent, and agricultural runoff bring resistant bacteria and antibiotic residues into soil and water.

Estimating Submesoscale‐Driven Particulate Organic Carbon Flux From Remote Sensing at a Dynamic Upwelling Front

open access: yesJournal of Geophysical Research: Oceans, Volume 131, Issue 8, August 2026.
Abstract Submesoscale (1–10 km) vertical velocities at fronts enhance the exchange of particulate organic carbon (POC) and heat between the surface ocean and depth. While POC and temperature can be readily assessed in situ, direct quantification of flux remains uncertain due to the observational challenges of measuring submesoscale vertical velocities ...
