Fractional Diffusion Equation for a Power-Law-Truncated Levy Process

open access: yes, 2003
Truncated Levy flights are stochastic processes which display a crossover from a heavy-tailed Levy behavior to a faster decaying probability distribution function (pdf).

Dynamics of confined Levy flights in terms of (Levy) semigroups

open access: yes, 2011
The master equation for a probability density function (pdf) driven by Lévy noise, if conditioned to conform with the principle of detailed balance, admits a transformation to a contractive strongly continuous semigroup dynamics. Given a priori a functional form of the semigroup potential, we address the ground-state reconstruction problem for generic ...

Reconfiguration Strategy for DC Distribution Network Fault Recovery Based on Hybrid Particle Swarm Optimization

open access: yesEnergies, 2021
DC distribution network faults seriously affect the reliability of system power supply. Therefore, this paper proposes a fault recovery reconfiguration strategy for DC distribution networks, based on hybrid particle swarm optimization.

The ageing holobiont: crosstalk between telomere dynamics, oxidative stress and the gut microbiome

open access: yesBiological Reviews, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT The gut tissue is at the frontline of early onset of ageing. It exhibits high cell turnover rates and rapid telomere shortening, which can have systemic effects on the developing or senescing organism. We conducted a literature review of studies on the crosstalk between telomere length dynamics, telomerase activity, oxidative stress, and gut ...

Levy-flight spreading of epidemic processes leading to percolating clusters

open access: yes, 1998
We consider two stochastic processes, the Gribov process and the general epidemic process, that describe the spreading of an infectious disease. In contrast to the usually assumed case of short-range infections that lead, at the critical point, to ...

Synchronization of extended chaotic systems with long-range interactions: an analogy to Levy-flight spreading of epidemics [PDF]

open access: yes, 2006
Spatially extended chaotic systems with power-law decaying interactions are considered. Two coupled replicas of such systems synchronize to a common spatio-temporal chaotic state above a certain coupling strength.

How to Navigate Disrupted Business Models in the 21st Century: At the Crossroads of the Circular Economy and the Industry 4.0 Transition

open access: yesBusiness Strategy and the Environment, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Our planet faces a critical crisis, with pollution, resource depletion and biodiversity loss surpassing sustainable limits. Businesses must address these challenges, with the circular economy and Industry 4.0 offering transformative potential through closed‐loop systems, regenerative solutions and advanced technologies.

Levy flights from a continuous-time process

open access: yes, 2000
The Levy-flight dynamics can stem from simple random walks in a system whose operational time (number of steps n) typically grows superlinearly with physical time t.

Levy Flights Over Quantum Paths [PDF]

open access: yesVolume 1: 20th Biennial Conference on Mechanical Vibration and Noise, Parts A, B, and C, 2005
An impact of integration over the paths of the Le´vy flights on the quantum mechanical kernel has been studied. Analytical expression for a free particle kernel has been obtained in terms of the Fox H-function. A new equation for the kernel of a partical in the box has been found.

Fractal and nonfractal behavior in Levy flights [PDF]

open access: yesJournal of Mathematical Physics, 1987
The d-dimentional space-continuous time-discrete Markovian random walk with a distribution of step lengths, which behaves like x−(α+d) with α>0 for large x, is studied. By studying the density–density correlation function of these walks, it is determined under what conditions the walks are fractal and when they are nonfractal.
