Probabilistic Multi‐Objective Energy Management System Model for an Energy Hub With PtG Technology for Cost Reduction and System Flexibility Improvement

open access: yesEnergy Science &Engineering, EarlyView.
Overview of the under‐study hub energy model showing the energy conversion and distribution among integrated sources and loads. ABSTRACT In this paper, a probabilistic bi‐objective energy management system (EMS) model is proposed for an energy hub (EH) equipped with renewable energy sources such as photovoltaic and wind turbine connected to the main ...

Stability of entropy solutions for Levy mixed hyperbolic-parabolic equations

open access: yesElectronic Journal of Differential Equations, 2011
We analyze entropy solutions for a class of Levy mixed hyperbolic-parabolic equations containing a non-local (or fractional) diffusion operator originating from a pure jump Levy process.

Wavelet Coefficients of Levy Process

open access: yes, 2010
Cet article présente une expression de la fonction caractéristique des coefficients de décomposition en ondelettes d'un processus de Levy. Le cas particulier de l'ondelette de Haar et d'un processus entrelacé est traité plus en détail.

Modelling by Levy Processes

open access: yes, 2001
A considerable body of recent work uses Levy processes to model and analyse financial time series. Section 2 provides a brief review of this work. The review is to a large extent based on two papers Barndorff-Nielsen and Shephard (2001a,b) where more detailed information may be found. See also Barndorff-Nielsen and Shephard (2001c,d,e).

Fat-Tailed Distributions and Levy Processes

open access: yes, 2008
The notion that natural disasters can be controlled is, of course, farcical; history is permeated with examples of countless failed attempts at this pointless task; it is synonymous with trying to build a perpetual motion machine. Nonetheless, there are ways to reduce their impact on human communities, particularly by looking away from the normal ...

Caught in the fire: An accidental ethnography of discomfort in researching sex work

open access: yesFeminist Anthropology, EarlyView.
Abstract Drawing on fifteen years of engagement with researching Israel's sex industry, this article uses accidental ethnography to propose discomfort‐as‐method for feminist anthropology. I argue that discomfort is not a by‐product of fieldwork but a constitutive condition that disciplines researchers and shapes what can be known.

Medicare Part D and Hospital Admissions due to Antimicrobial Resistance

open access: yesHealth Economics, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Antimicrobial resistance (AMR) has been increasing rapidly in the United States despite government efforts to contain its spread. Both under‐utilization and overuse of prescribed antimicrobials contribute to rising resistance. The introduction of Medicare Part D in 2006 expanded prescription drug coverage for the elderly, including coverage ...
