Evaluating Erosional Stability of Reconstructed Mine Landscapes Using Landform Evolution Models: Parameterisation and Decadal‐Scale Erosion Assessment

open access: yesLand Degradation &Development, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Ensuring the long‐term erosional stability of post‐mining landforms remains a major challenge in open‐pit mining. Reconstructed landscapes must support the agreed post‐mining land use, such as cattle grazing in the Hunter region of southeastern Australia, requiring stable pasture and minimal soil loss.

A simple index for assessing cumulative human impacts on mountain lakes

open access: yesLimnology and Oceanography: Methods, EarlyView.
Abstract Mountain lakes are highly sensitive ecosystems and effective sentinels of environmental change, yet the exposure and magnitude of the human footprint remain poorly quantified. In this study, we develop a simple and non‐invasive abiotic index to assess cumulative pressures on mountain lakes. The proposed index integrates eight variables grouped

Lectotypifications and taxonomic changes in the holoparasitic Orobanchaceae

open access: yesNordic Journal of Botany, EarlyView.
Based on further extensive studies of specimens in various herbaria, lectotypes are designated for many taxa of holoparasitic Orobanchaceae. In particular, 47 names in the genera Boschniakia (incl. Xylanche), Cistanche, Orobanche, Phelipanche and Phelypaea are lectotypified.

Impacts of reindeer grazing on phosphorus sorption and nutrient availability in a tundra site

open access: yesOikos, EarlyView.
Reindeer Rangifer tarandus, a large circumpolar herbivore, can influence whether nitrogen (N) or phosphorus (P) is the primary limiting nutrient in tundra plant communities. Specifically, findings from a site in northern Scandinavia suggest that under conditions where reindeer grazing stimulates inorganic N availability, grazing may drive ecosystems ...
