Abstract LGBTQ individuals experience unique health disparities, and each of the LGBTQ populations has their own health concerns that may be further impacted by race, ethnicity, socioeconomic status, age, and other factors. LGBTQ youth are at increased risk for depression and suicidal ideation.

As Alison Halsall’s chapter explores, the Canadian LGBTQ+ comics scene features perspectives from many different communities—Cherokee and Two-Spirited; Japanese Canadian and queer-questioning; Hindu, transgender, and non-binary—all showcasing the personal experiences of intersectional insight and agency that queer characters encounter.
