A low-scatter survey-based mass proxy for clusters of galaxies
Estimates of cosmological parameters using galaxy clusters have the scatter in the observable at a given mass as a fundamental parameter. This work computes the amplitude of the scatter for a newly introduced mass proxy, the product of the cluster total ...

The last (Wisconsinan) glacial period was punctuated in North America by two glacial maxima, known as the Early and Late Wisconsinan glaciations. In Alaska, these maxima and their subsequent retreats have been the object of dating efforts to reconstruct local climatic events and compare them to global trends.

Study of V-notch fatigue strength based on affected depth approach
In this work, the Affected Depth (AD) approach is employed to estimate the high cycle fatigue limit of AISI 416 steel weakened by notches. This approach is based on a critical depth parameter identified from the analysis of the stress distribution around

Glacial erosion during the Last Glacial Maximum (LGM) has removed much evidence of earlier glaciations and interglacials in the European Alps. At Gröbminger Mitterberg (GM), beneath a blanket of LGM till, a distinctive sediment archive preserves deposits predating the LGM.

Isoscaling in the Lattice Gas Model
The isoscaling behavior is investigated using the isotopic/isobaric yields from the equilibrated thermal source which is prepared by the lattice gas model for lighter systems with A = 36.

We analyse the geological processes of a coastal embayment in the Kattegat. Using high‐resolution seismic data and sediment cores, we describe a geological evolution from glacial to shallow marine stages with a variety of preserved facies from different depositional settings, including glacio‐lacustrine, telmatic, limnic and coastal environments.

Last Glacial Maximum climate and atmospheric circulation over the Australian region from climate models [PDF]
The Last Glacial Maximum (LGM; ∼21 kyr ago) was the most recent time that the Earth experienced global maximum ice volume and minimum eustatic sea level.

We summarize the current state of knowledge on the age of the Middle Pleistocene ice advances into northern central Europe and provide 25 new single‐grain feldspar luminescence ages of Elsterian and Saalian glacigenic sediments to constrain the age of the ice advances and their tentative correlation with marine isotope stages/substages.

An Element Free Galerkin method for an elastoplastic coupled to damage analysis
In this work, a Meshless approach for nonlinear solid mechanics is developed based on the Element Free Galerkin method. Furthermore, Meshless is combined with an elastoplastic model coupled to ductile damage. The efficiency of the proposed methodology is

We present a 25‐stage reconstruction of the ice‐flow pattern evolution of the Scandinavian Ice Sheet based on mapping and analysis of ~240 000 subglacial lineations and lineation fields across Norway, Sweden, Finland, and parts of NW Russia. Our reconstruction uses a glacial geomorphological inversion approach, in which we generated 611 individual ...
