Liability and Limitation of Liability
2013This chapter examines the issues of shipowner rights to limit liability. It does not address the conventions relating to ship-source pollution damage since these have been dealt with in the previous chapter. Conventions have been developed, particularly over the last 40 years, through IMO to be applied on an international basis.

Professional Liability and Potential Liability
Neurosurgery, 1985Operations on the nervous system continue to result in claims that rank among the most costly. A retrospective review of 300 cases of alleged or potential liability referred for opinion over an 11-year period is reported to catalog areas of vulnerability for the neurosurgeon and to alert younger practitioners in particular.

Liability and liability insurance for medical malpractice
Journal of Health Economics, 1985Physicians typically carry virtually complete malpractice insurance coverage. This contradicts standard theoretical predictions that under a negligence rule of liability there should be no demand for insurance, and insurance policies under moral hazard will contain co-payment provisions.

Abstract: Should states be liable towards individuals for failure to provide justice, good roads, or timely administrative decisions? In this article, we show that state liability can serve three different purposes, none of which implies that the state should be liable in tort, unless other specific conditions are met.
