Multi‐Model Impacts of Dust on African Air Quality and Mortality Under Regional and Global Anthropogenic Aerosol Changes

open access: yesJournal of Geophysical Research: Atmospheres, Volume 131, Issue 9, 16 May 2026.
Abstract Decreases in anthropogenic aerosols will reduce fine particulate matter (PM2.5); however, meteorological feedbacks alter dust emissions, modifying air quality gains. We use eight Earth System Models from the Regional Aerosol Model Intercomparison Project (RAMIP) simulations to assess African climate and air quality responses to anthropogenic ...

Photovoltaic Modelling Within the Pan‐European Climate Database v4.2: Capturing PV Diversity for a Climate‐Resilient European Grid

open access: yesAdvanced Energy and Sustainability Research, Volume 7, Issue 5, May 2026.
Pan‐European Climate Database v4.2 was released in 2025 and the methodology behind the new detailed photovoltaic capacity factor timeseries is here described. It highlights typology‐based profiles, with distinctive performance patterns across rooftop and utility‐scale systems, their validation with real TSO data, and their growing role in grid planning,

The Geographical Distribution of Lactose Tolerance‐Associated Alleles 13910*T and 13915*G Is Strongly Linked to Male Founder Events in Eurasia

open access: yesAmerican Journal of Human Biology, Volume 38, Issue 5, May 2026.
ABSTRACT Lactose tolerance (lactase persistence) represents a very progressive human adaptation, the origins of which remain incompletely understood. This study aims to examine the geographical distribution of the two alleles associated with lactose tolerance in Eurasia (13910*T and 13915*G) in relation to the main Y haplogroups and autosomal ancestry ...

Actionable Pharmacogenomics and Essential Medicines: An Analysis of WHO and African Lists for Safer and Efficacious Drug Use

open access: yesClinical Pharmacology &Therapeutics, Volume 119, Issue 5, Page 1371-1381, May 2026.
The World Health Organization Model Essential Medicines List and African national essential medicines lists (EMLs) detail drugs intended to be consistently available within national health systems, thereby supporting clinicians and pharmacists in making evidence‐based treatment decisions.

Current and Future Potential Distribution of the Invasive Thrips Echinothrips americanus (Terebrantia: Thripidae) Under Global Climate Change

open access: yesEcology and Evolution, Volume 16, Issue 5, May 2026.
The study predicted the potential global distribution of invasive pest Echinothrips americanus using MaxEnt models, revealing its primary habitats concentrated in Asia, Europe, North America, South America, and Africa (total area ~ 3.41 × 107 km2). Under future climate scenarios, marginally suitable areas are projected to contract significantly, while ...

The Impact of Metformin on Vitamin B12 Levels in Children and Adolescents: A Systematic Review and Single‐Arm Meta‐Analysis

open access: yesEndocrinology, Diabetes &Metabolism, Volume 9, Issue 3, May 2026.
This first systematic review and single‐arm meta‐analysis in children and adolescents taking metformin found a significant vitamin B12 deficiency rate in observational studies than in randomised controlled trials (RCT). Larger RCTs with longer duration are recommended to better understand the risk.
