Aeolian processes are important drivers of geomorphic change in cold regions. Because these processes often occur at slow timescales over large areas, it can be difficult to quantify rates using traditional field methods.

Moraine sediments are not easily dated. In this study, different kinds of clasts and boulders were sampled and cored to show that rock surface luminescence burial dating provides correct ages, making it a trustworthy alternative to well‐established methods which might fail at the same site.

ABSTRACT Severe storm flooding poses a major hazard to the coasts of north‐western Europe. However, the long‐term recurrence patterns of extreme coastal flooding and their governing factors are poorly understood.
