Sales and Advertising Rivalry in Interwar US Department Stores [PDF]

open access: yes
Department stores represented one of the most advertising-intensive sectors of American inter-war retailing. Yet it has been argued that a competitive spiral of high advertising spending, to match the challenge of other local department stores ...

Design and Synthesis of Peptide‐Polyester Conjugates for Cell‐Mediated Scaffold Degradation

open access: yesAdvanced Healthcare Materials, EarlyView.
This work describes polycaprolactone (PCL)‐based biomaterials engineered to degrade in response to cell‐secreted proteases. A fast‐degrading peptide (Fast) sequence is integrated into a PCL conjugate backbone to produce a biomaterial that is selectively degraded by multiple cell types compared to its scrambled control (ScrFast).

Forestillinger om medborgerskap i lys av kjønn og funksjonsevne

open access: yesTidsskrift for Kjønnsforskning, 2017

Development of a Synthetic Hydrogel to Foster Microvascularization of an Endometriosis Microphysiological System

open access: yesAdvanced Healthcare Materials, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT The ascent of novel alternative methods in drug development spotlights the dual needs for improved biological fidelity to in vivo, along with reproducibility, especially in regulatory applications. The need for pre‐clinical models of patient‐derived endometriosis lesions motivates the development of a vascularizable, completely synthetic ...

Oxygen Supply of Islets of Langerhans by Photosynthetically Active Microalgae in Bioprinted Co‐Cultures Maintains Their Function in a Hypoxic Environment

open access: yesAdvanced Healthcare Materials, EarlyView.
This study developed a bioprinted co‐culture system embedding rat pancreatic islets and Scenedesmus sp. microalgae spatially defined in close vicinity. Red light was found optimal to ensure microalgal photosynthesis while maintaining islet viability and functionality. A tailored co‐culture medium supported both cell types.

3D Soft Hydrogels Induce Human Mesenchymal Stem Cells “Deep” Quiescence

open access: yesAdvanced Healthcare Materials, EarlyView.
Three‐dimensional soft hydrogels mimicking the bone marrow niche induce deep quiescence in human mesenchymal stem cells. Unlike 2D culture, 3D matrices halt proliferation, regulate cell‐cycle and quiescence markers, and downregulate mTORC1 signaling, preserving stem cell phenotype and therapeutic potential ex vivo.

Optimization design of nickel-titanium shape memory alloy anti-loose gaskets based on ABAQUS numerical simulation

open access: yesMaterials Research Express
This paper addressed the issue of maintaining long-term stability under complex conditions with traditional anti-loose gaskets used in the power industry. It proposed a design for an anti-loose gasket, exploiting the super-elasticity, shape memory effect,

Water Permeates and Plasticizes Amorphous Carbon Dots: Unraveling the Inner Accessibility of the Nanoparticles by Glass Transition Studies

open access: yesAdvanced Materials, EarlyView.
The water permeability of amorphous carbon dots (CDs) is demonstrated by investigating their plasticization. Novel polyamide‐based and amorphous nanoparticles are synthesized by controlling their inner packing density. Water plasticization is evidenced by the decrease of the CDs glass transition temperature with increasing the hydration degree.
