Amitriptyline Induced Life-Threatening Steven-Johnson Syndrome: Case Report. [PDF]

open access: yesClin Case Rep
ABSTRACT Stevens–Johnson syndrome is one of the few dermatological emergencies in clinical practice. The syndrome is often secondary to the usage of drugs, of which allopurinol, penicillins, sulfa drugs, ibuprofen, sodium valproate, phenytoin, lamotrigine, and carbamazepine are commonly implicated.

Validity and Reliability of the Amharic Version of EORTC QLQ-OG25 Among Esophagogastric Cancer Patients in Ethiopia. [PDF]

open access: yesCancer Rep (Hoboken)
ABSTRACT Background Cancers of the stomach and esophagus are the fourth and sixth most common causes of cancer‐related deaths worldwide, respectively. Although various tools have been developed to assess the quality of life of patients with esophagogastric cancer, EORTC QLQ‐C30 and EORTC QLQ‐OG25 are the most used all over the world. However, they have

Nanoparticle‐Decorated Biomimetic Extracellular Matrix for Cell Nanoencapsulation and Regulation

open access: yesAngewandte Chemie, Volume 135, Issue 31, August 1, 2023., 2023
A biomimetic extracellular matrix is synthesized on the surface of live cells as a cell nanocapsule to carry nanoparticles. Nanoparticles at the vicinity of the encapsulated cell surface allow for on‐demand regulation of intracellular gene expression. As any or multiple nanoparticles can be applied to decorate the nanocapsule, this work demonstrates a ...

Ecological Momentary Assessment Reveals Causal Effects of Music Enrichment on Infant Mood. [PDF]

open access: yesChild Dev
ABSTRACT Music appears universally in human infancy with self‐evident effects: as many parents know intuitively, infants love to be sung to. The long‐term effects of parental singing remain unclear, however. In an offset‐design exploratory 10‐week randomized trial conducted in 2023 (110 families of young infants, Mage = 3.67 months, 53% female, 73 ...

Effect of Processed Coffee Husk on Feed Intake, Nutrient Digestibility, Body Weight Changes and Economic Feasibility of Bonga Sheep Fed on Natural Pasture Hay as a Basal Diet. [PDF]

open access: yesVet Med Sci
The study assessed the effect of different coffee husk processing methods on nutrient content and on the performance of lambs. The experiment was done due to a lack of such findings in the area. The result revealed that the boiled coffee husk as an alternative feed resource can be replaced by about half of the commercial concentrate mix without adverse

Examining energy and nutrient production across the different agroecological zones in rural Ethiopia using statistical methods

open access: yesFood Science &Nutrition, Volume 11, Issue 12, Page 7565-7580, December 2023., 2023
Agroecology determines the choice of food produced and, in this way, affects the available supply of energy and nutrients. The nutrient composition of the same crops when grown in different agroecologies shows differences in composition. Agroecological variations should be a key consideration when designing food system interventions dedicated to ...

ECG abnormality and predictor of new‐onset atrial fibrillation in hypertension and diabetes mellitus population: An observational analytic study from cardiovascular outpatient clinic at a National Cardiovascular Center in Indonesia

open access: yesJournal of Arrhythmia, Volume 39, Issue 6, Page 860-867, December 2023., 2023
Arrhythmia was found in 14.2% of the population, with new‐onset AF (NOAF) as the most common finding with 8.6% incidence, followed by PVC (3.1%) and PAC (2.5%). Model from multivariate logistic regression showed that valvular heart disease and random blood glucose level were independently correlated with NOAF.

The role of iron in the formation of Ediacaran ‘death masks’

open access: yesGeobiology, Volume 21, Issue 4, Page 421-434, July 2023., 2023
Abstract The Ediacara biota are an enigmatic group of Neoproterozoic soft‐bodied fossils that mark the first major radiation of complex eukaryotic and macroscopic life. These fossils are thought to have been preserved via pyritic “death masks” mediated by seafloor microbial mats, though little about the chemical constraints of this preservational ...

Integrating Patient‐reported Experience (PRE) in a multistage approach to study access to health services for women with chronic illness and migration experience

open access: yesHealth Expectations, Volume 26, Issue 1, Page 237-244, February 2023., 2023
Abstract Background Patient‐reported Experience (PRE) is an emerging concept integrating patient perspectives and amplifying voices often marginalized in discussions surrounding health systems. However, it remains a challenge to use and integrate PREs when studying patient agency and access to quality services, particularly with data from multiple ...

SARS‐CoV‐2 infection and venous thromboembolism after surgery: an international prospective cohort study

open access: yesAnaesthesia, Volume 77, Issue 1, Page 28-39, January 2022., 2022
Summary SARS‐CoV‐2 has been associated with an increased rate of venous thromboembolism in critically ill patients. Since surgical patients are already at higher risk of venous thromboembolism than general populations, this study aimed to determine if patients with peri‐operative or prior SARS‐CoV‐2 were at further increased risk of venous ...
