Self‐Texturing Scratch‐Resistant and Bacteria‐Repellent Superhydrophobic Polypropylene Surfaces Through Extrusion‐Based Additive Manufacturing

open access: yesMacromolecular Materials and Engineering, Volume 311, Issue 5, May 2026.
One‐step 3D printing combined with in‐situ self‐assembly of behenic acid creates hierarchical polypropylene surfaces with micro‐ and nanostructures. The resulting material exhibits superhydrophobicity with a contact angle of 163 (±2)°, self‐healing, and high scratch resistance, while reducing initial bacterial adhesion by 87%. ABSTRACT Superhydrophobic

Modular Fabrication of Quantum‐Dot–Plasmonic Metasurfaces for Tailored Optical Modes

open access: yesSmall Structures, Volume 7, Issue 5, May 2026.
Our modular photonic architecture is illustrated using color‐coded building blocks representing colloidal quantum dots, gold nanoparticles, and thin films. This visual metaphor highlights our bottom‐up and top‐down fabrication approach, enabling the creation of tailored optical modes for optoelectronic applications.

What Drives Sustainable Institutional Engagement and Voting Behavior?

open access: yesFinancial Review, Volume 61, Issue 2, Page 471-491, May 2026.
ABSTRACT We examine what drives institutional engagement and voting on environmental, social, and governance (ESG)‐related shareholder proposals, using data from Principles for Responsible Investment (PRI) and Morningstar. We find that personal engagement often substitutes for voting, especially among large fund families and those using meetings or ...

The Culture Clash of AI Adoption in Lean Quality Management. Resolving the Tensions at Siemens Electronics Works Amberg

open access: yesInformation Systems Journal, Volume 36, Issue 3, Page 315-339, May 2026.
ABSTRACT Artificial intelligence (AI) brings great potential for manufacturers, but clashes with the established culture due to the unexplainable and opaque nature of the solutions it provides. Having little experience in AI and machine learning (ML), most manufacturing leaders experience barriers implementing AI.

Universal Dental Adhesives Containing Zinc Oxide and Copper Nanoparticles Improve Interface on Caries‐Affected Dentin After 2 Years: In Vitro Study

open access: yesJournal of Esthetic and Restorative Dentistry, Volume 38, Issue 5, Page 970-980, May 2026.
ABSTRACT Objective To evaluate the effect of adding zinc oxide and copper nanoparticles (ZnO/CuNp) into universal adhesives (UAs) on resin–dentin microtensile bond strength (μTBS), nanoleakage (NL), and presence of ZnO/Cu within the hybrid layer on caries‐affected dentin, both at baseline (T0) and after 2 years of water storage (T2).

The Survival of the Royals

open access: yesKyklos, Volume 79, Issue 2, Page 307-323, May 2026.
ABSTRACT We study the effect of royal status—a historically rooted legal privilege enjoyed by hereditary monarchs and their families—on human longevity, a proxy of individuals' health capital. We disentangle the effect of royal status that encompassed serving as heads of state from that of other royal family members and compare it to their contemporary
