Artifact‐Minimizing Ultrathin Transparent Electrodes Fabricated via iCVD for In Vivo Optogenetic Stimulation and Neural Signal Monitoring of Primary Visual Cortex

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
We present ultrathin flexible transparent electrodes through iCVD‐enabled molecular control of 10 nm gold films on poly(dimethylaminomethylstyrene). In vivo validation demonstrated photoelectric artifact reduction vs. opaque electrodes and preservation of natural neural dynamics.

Effects of Winery Wastewater to Soils on Mineral Properties and Soil Carbon

open access: yesLand
Winery wastewater (WW) is a high-volume biowaste and, in the context of Marlborough and New Zealand wineries, there is a growing recognition of the need to improve current WW disposal systems to mitigate negative environmental impacts. The application of

Is it possible to increase the sustainability of arable and ruminant agriculture by reducing inputs? [PDF]

open access: yes, 2009
Until recently, agricultural production was optimised almost exclusively for profit but now farming is under pressure to meet environmental targets. A method is presented and applied for optimising the sustainability of agricultural production systems in

Start, Stop, Rewind, Repeat—Cyclic Exposure of Adipose Stromal Cells‐derived Cartilage Organoids to Chondrogenic and Proliferative Cues to Achieve Scaled‐up and Customizable Bone Formation by Endochondral Ossification

open access: yesAdvanced Healthcare Materials, EarlyView.
This study exploits the plasticity of ASCs‐derived cartilage organoids which generate a perichondrial layer of MSCs when exposed to cyclic chondrogenic/proliferative cues. Using these organoids as building blocks, we develop (i) Phalange Shaped Tissue Engineered Cartilage (Pa‐TECs), recapitulating endochondral ossification suitable for the treatment of

Polyimide‐Linked Hexaazatriphenylene‐Based Porous Organic Polymer with Multiple Redox‐Active Sites as a High‐Capacity Organic Cathode for Lithium‐Ion Batteries

open access: yesAdvanced Materials, EarlyView.
A high‐capacity polyimide‐linked porous organic polymer (HAT‐PTO) incorporating numerous redox‐active centers is synthesized via a hydrothermal reaction, delivering a high theoretical capacity of 484 mAh g−1. In situ hybridization with carboxyl‐functionalized multiwalled carbon nanotubes enhances conductivity and stability, achieving 397 mAh g−1 at C ...

Winners and Losers in Housing Markets [PDF]

open access: yes
This paper is a quantitatively-oriented theoretical study into the interaction between housing prices, aggregate production, and household behaviour over a lifetime. We develop a life-cycle model of a production economy in which land and capital are used
