Biology and life table parameters of the Heliothrips haemorrhoidalis on strawberries
Phytoparasitica, 2021Heliothrips haemorrhoidalis (Bouche) (Thysanoptera: Thripidae) has been reported on several crops. The development time, viability of immature stages, and reproductive parameters of H. haemorrhoidalis in ‘Camino Real’ strawberry leaflets were investigated under controlled conditions (25 ± 2 °C, 70 ± 10% relative humidity, and 14 h photoperiod).

Exploring the hormetic effects of radiation on the life table parameters of Spodoptera frugiperda
Pest Management Science, 2023BACKGROUNDSpodoptera frugiperda, a global agricultural pest, can be effectively controlled through the sterile insect technique. However, exposure to low‐dose radiation below the sterilization threshold may induce hormetic effects. Here, the biphasic aspects of the fertile progeny population of S.

A reducible four-parameter system of model life tables
Population Studies, 1983Abstract In this paper a four-parameter extension of Brass's relational system of model life tables is suggested that (1) matches a wide range of empirical age patterns of mortality, (2) is easy to apply, especially to partial life tables, and (3) contains demographically meaningful parameters. A test of the model on a set of 62 empirical life tables

Life history and life table parameters of the predatory mite Typhlodromus talbii
Entomologia Experimentalis et Applicata, 1995AbstractThe predatory mite Typhlodromus talbii Athias‐Henriot occurs in European vineyards and is often associated with economically important species. Neither its role in vineyards nor the factors affecting its population dynamics and relationships with other phytoseiid species are well known. The development and the reproduction of T.

Comments on life-table parameters with reference to Daphnia pulex
Theoretical Population Biology, 1987Abstract Commonly used life-table formulae for calculating the intrinsic rate of increase, r , and the instantaneous birth and death rates, b and d , give reasonable approximations for r , but not for b or d . An alternative, acceptable approximation is given for estimating r , b , and d when survival and fecundity are observed at ...

Life Table Parameters for Tarnished Plant Bug Models
Midsouth Entomologist, 2014The tarnished plant bug, Lygus lineolaris (Palisot De Beauvois) (TPB), is a highly polyphagous insect that feeds on numerous wild and cultivated host plants. Previous papers have reported the survival and developmental times of immature stages of TPB and the fecundity and longevity of adults on various host plants, but the majority of these studies ...

Influence of diet on life table parameters of Iphiseius degenerans (Acari: Phytoseiidae)
Experimental & Applied Acarology, 2005Abstract. Studies on the reproduction, longevity and life table parameters of Iphiseius degenerans (Berlese) were carried out under laboratory conditions of 25 +/- 1 degree C, 75 +/- 5% RH and 16L:8D h. As food sources for the predatory mite, Ricinus communis L. pollen, all stages of the spider mite Tetrranchus urticae Koch, Frankliniella occidentalis (

The effects of three economically important host plants, jute (Corchorus capsularis L.), bean (Lablab purpureus L.) and papaya (Carica papaya L.), on the development, reproduction and demographic parameters of the spider mite Tetranychus truncatus Ehara (Acari: Tetranychidae) were investigated under laboratory conditions of 30 ± 1°C, 60–80% RH and a ...

The four-parameter logit life table system
Population Studies, 1979Summary Brass's model life table system, which is a two parameter system based on the logit transformation of survivorship values, has been widely and successfully used to describe age patterns of mortality in many populations. As more reliable information has become available for populations with mortality patterns which differ in important ways ...
