Aircraft Engineering and Aerospace Technology, 1986
AT a manufacturing stage or to ensure the continued airworthiness of an aircraft's components, non‐destructive testing (NDT) occupies an important place in any inspection programme. By means of the methods employed, parts can be inspected and returned to service with confidence in their ability to fulfil a role in a system or structure.

Bayesian design for life tests and accelerated life tests
2018This paper describes Bayesian methods for life test planning with Type II censored data from a Weibull distribution, when the Weibull shape parameter is given. We use conjugate prior distributions and criteria based on estimating a quantile of interest of the lifetime distribution. One criterion is based on a precision factor for a credibility interval

Preliminary test estimator of average life in a life test experiment
Microelectronics Reliability, 1993Abstract The exponential distribution occupies an important position in life time distribution, especially in the fields of engineering, medical and industrial life testing. In this paper an estimation procedure using a preliminary test of significance for the estimation of the average life of a one-parameter exponential distribution for time ...

Testing for Dependency of Failure Times in Life Testing
Technometrics, 2006A method is proposed for testing whether the failure of the first specimen in a test machine that contains multiple specimens shortens the time to failure of the other specimens in that unit. The time to failure is modeled as a two-parameter Weibull distribution.

Predictive Sequential Life Testing
Biometrika, 1978Sequential tests that are based on some unobservable parameter have been well investigated using both classical and Bayesian approaches; see, for example, Wald (1947) and Barnett (1972). In this paper we use the Bayesian predictive density function to constuct a sequential test that is based on some statistic of a future sample, and investigate the ...

In life test we have the data xi,i=1, 2, ...,n in its increasing order, and usually we stop the life test when the s-th death has occurred, because if we wait till all the death occurred we have to wait for a long time. Therefore we have the first s data in n samples.

Pregnancy: a stress test for life
Current Opinion in Obstetrics and Gynecology, 2003This review describes how the physiological demands of pregnancy act as a maternal stress test that can predict a woman's health in later life. Pregnancy transiently catapults a woman into a metabolic syndrome that predisposes to vascular endothelial dysfunction.

Testing for Emergence in Artificial Life
1999The field of artificial life (Alife) is replete with documented instances of emergence, though debate still persists as to the meaning of this term. In the absence of a formal definition, researchers in the field would be well served by adopting an emergence certification mark which would garner approval from the Alife community.

On robustness of rank tests in life testing
Journal of Statistical Computation and Simulation, 1973Some two-sample rank tests are considered for a family of life distributions which include the Weibuil, gamma and the exponential, and power for these tests is computed under Lehmann alternatives as well as under gamma and Weibuil shape alternatives.
