Experimental Studies on the Drag Reduction and Lift Enhancement of a Delta Wing

Journal of Aircraft, 2003
An experimental wind-tunnel investigation is undertaken to determine the effects of riblets and Gurney e aps on a 40-deg delta wing at a chord Reynolds number of 2 :5£ £10 5 . The results show that riblets reduce the drag of the delta wing over a range of angle of attack; the V-shaped riblet with h=s=0.2 mm has the most signie cant effect at an angle ...

Electro—magnetic control of shear flow over a cylinder for drag reduction and lift enhancement

Chinese Physics B, 2013
In this paper, the electro—magnetic control of a cylinder wake in shear flow is investigated numerically. The effects of the shear rate and Lorentz force on the cylinder wake, the distribution of hydrodynamic force, and the drag/lift phase diagram are discussed in detail.

Numerical analysis of plasma actuator for drag reduction and lift enhancement on NACA 4415 airfoil

AIP Conference Proceedings, 2018
Plasma actuator is one of the active flow control equipment that is being developed in recent years. In this study, numerical analysis is used to obtain optimization of plasma actuator that placed on airfoil at 0.21c. This numerical simulation executed at 3 (three) variations of Reynolds number, 35,000, 100,000, and 200,000 The plasma actuator was ...

Drag reduction and lift enhancement mechanism induced by a novel combinational spike and high-pressure capturing wing concept in hypersonic flows

Physics of Fluids
The blunt cone vehicle experiences significant shockwave-induced drag during hypersonic flight, compromising its aerodynamic performance. To enhance the lift-to-drag ratio of hypersonic blunt cone vehicles, this study proposes an innovative combinational spike and high-pressure capture wing (S-HCW) configuration. The drag reduction and lift enhancement

Lift enhancement and drag reduction of lifting blades through the use of end-plates and detached end-plates

Journal of Wind Engineering and Industrial Aerodynamics, 2019
Abstract Three-dimensional steady-state RANS simulations of the flow around a stationary finite-span blade have been carried out. The analysis is directed toward the vorticity dynamics, the forces acting on the blade and their spanwise distributions when using end-plates or detached end-plates, namely end-plates that are not in contact with the blade
