DYNAMIC REACTION FORCES OF AN OVERHEAD CRANE ON LIFTING
In the recent period, girder bridge cranes are replaced with double-beam overhead cranes with a rectangular cross-section of the beams. In addition, new materials are used for producing them thus applying other values of allowable loads and deformations. The paper focuses on two overhead cranes working for JSC Vilniaus kranai (Vilnius Cranes).

Lift force in chiral, compressible granular matter
Micropolar fluid theory, an extension of classical Newtonian fluid dynamics, incorporates angular velocities and rotational inertias and has long been a foundational framework for describing granular flows. We propose a macroscopic model of granular matter based on micropolar fluid dynamics, which incorporates internal rotations, couple stresses, and ...

Granular drag and lift force on a flexible fiber
In this work, we investigate the forces acting on a flexible fiber dragged through a granular bed. Using discrete element simulations, we observe that, after a sufficiently large displacement, the system reaches a steady state in which both the fiber's shape and the forces acting on it become, on average, constant.

Nanoscale Electroviscous Lift Force
About forty years ago, it has been predicted that a charged particle, moving parallel to a charged wall in an electrolyte, should experience a lift force that, contrarily to electrostatic forces, is not screened at large distances. Up to now, such electroviscous lift force has not been directly measured. Here, we use Atomic Force Microscopy to directly

PrandtlPlane High–Lift System Preliminary Aerodynamic Design [PDF]
An analysis of low-speed aerodynamics for an unconventional aircraft configuration has been carried out. This configuration, named Prandtlplane, implements Prandtl's Best Wing System for low induced drag.

Investigation of relationship between drag and lift coefficients for a generic car model [PDF]
The paper presents a study of aerodynamic characteristics of a car, which has the simplified geometric shape, so called Ahmed body. Flow around the body and the influence of its rear slant angle on drag are widely studied by numerous researchers. However,
