Magnetic Control of Chiral Hybridized Phonon Magnetic Moments in Ferrimagnets Fe2‐xZnxMo3O8

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, Volume 36, Issue 48, 15 June 2026.
Helicity‐resolved magneto‐Raman spectroscopy reveals magnetic control of chiral phonon magnetic moments in polar ferrimagnet (ZnxFe2−xMo3O₈). Large spontaneous zero‐field phonon splittings, selective phonon–magnon coupling, and asymmetric Zeeman responses demonstrate that phonon chirality is governed by magnon‐phonon coupling and magnetization.

Hydrogen in the Natural Gas Network—Relevance for Existing Fire Precautions

open access: yesFire
Power-to-gas technology can be used to convert excess power from renewable energies to hydrogen by means of water electrolysis. This hydrogen can serve as “chemical energy storage” and be converted back to electricity or fed into the natural gas grid. In

Annular Air Gap Area Impact on Flame Regime Transition and Combustion in Low-chamber-pressure Air Heater [PDF]

open access: yesJournal of Applied Fluid Mechanics
This study combines high-speed shadowgraph imaging with numerical simulations to systematically examine the effect of the annular air gap area on the spray combustion characteristics of an alcohol-liquid-oxygen-air tripropellant coaxial direct-flow ...

Dynamic Supramolecular Polyurethane Elastomers Enabling Bioinspired Strain‐Adaptive Stiffening to Resolve the Softness–Strength Paradox

open access: yesAdvanced Science, Volume 13, Issue 31, 4 June 2026.
Segmental‐level molecular engineering of a supramolecular polyurethane elastomer integrates strain‐adaptive chains, soft elastic segments, and dynamic hydrogen bonding motifs. This design reconciles skin‐like softness with muscle‐level strength, offering a sustainable and high‐performance material platform for next‐generation artificial skin and soft ...

Experimental Investigation of Burning Liquids in Reduced Oxygen

open access: yesFire and Materials, Volume 50, Issue 4, Page 448-459, June 2026.
ABSTRACT The effects of oxygen concentration on combustion of gases have been investigated on fundamental levels in several studies. However, the same type of fundamental studies has not been made for liquid or solid fuels due to complex relationships between flame structure and changing mass loss rates (MLR).

Electronic jelly: Engineering the mechanics of hydrogels for flexible electronics

open access: yesFlexMat, Volume 3, Issue 2, Page 263-285, June 2026.
By unifying mechanical reinforcement strategies—double networks, structural ordering, and dynamic interactions—this review demonstrates how engineered hydrogels can transcend their fragility to achieve the strength, toughness, and reliability required for flexible electronics, including wearable sensors, energy devices, and soft robotic systems ...

Infrared Imaging Software for Jet Fire Analysis

open access: yesChemical Engineering Transactions, 2018
Jet fires, often originated by the ignition of hydrocarbon sonic jets, are characterized by a high momentum jet flame lifted from the outlet orifice. The high thermal flux released, especially if there is flames impingement on a given equipment, can lead

Salted Peat: The Forgotten Casualty of Rising Sea Level in Freshwater Coastal Tropical Peatlands

open access: yesGlobal Change Biology Communications, Volume 1, Issue 2, June 2026.
This paper invites reflection on the largely overlooked risk that rising sea levels may salinize coastal tropical peatlands, potentially destabilizing vegetation, carbon cycling, and livelihoods. By synthesizing emerging evidence, it highlights a critical blind spot in climate models and adaptation frameworks that warrant urgent scientific and policy ...

Simulations of combustion roar in turbulent attached and lifted turbulent methane jet flames

open access: yesEngineering Transactions, 2014
The present work presents sample results of preliminary computations of the turbulent aerothermodynamic flow field and of the noise generated by the flame front, due to turbulent fluctuations in the flame (combustion roar), in lifted and attached jet ...

Consistent Conditional Moment Closure Modelling of a Lifted Turbulent Jet Flame Using the Presumed β-PDF Approach

open access: yesJournal of Combustion, 2014
A lifted H2/N2 turbulent jet flame issuing into a vitiated coflow is investigated using the conditional moment closure. The conditional velocity (CV) and the conditional scalar dissipation rate (CSDR) submodels are chosen such that they are fully ...
