National hazard exposure worker surveillance: exposure to biomechanical demands, pain and fatigue symptoms and the provision of controls in Australian workplaces [PDF]

open access: yes
Biomechanical demands such as repetitive hand or arm movements, lifting heavy loads or working in awkward postures contribute to the development or worsening of inflammatory or degenerative musculoskeletal disorders.

Lithium Intercalation in the Anisotropic Van Der Waals Semiconductor CrSBr

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
We report the lithium intercalation in the layered van der Waals crystal CrSBr, revealing strongly anisotropic ion‐migration dynamics. Optical and electrical characterization of exfoliated CrSBr shows lithium diffusion coefficients that differ by more than an order of magnitude along a‐ and b‐directions, consistent with molecular dynamics simulations ...

Switchable Supramolecular Adhesive by Tuning Interfacial Bonding and Modulus

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
The supramolecular adhesive (HyDiP) shows reversible adhesion and recyclability. In the dehydrated state, it is dense, stiff (E ≈445 MPa), transparent, and provides strong bonding with adhesion strengths up to 4.65 MPa. In the hydrated state, it becomes porous, soft (E ≈0.11 MPa), and detaches easily, enabling sustainable high‐strength applications ...

Electron-Hole Asymmetry in Single-Walled Carbon Nanotubes Probed by Direct Observation of Transverse Quasi-Dark Excitons

open access: yes, 2009
We studied the asymmetry between valence and conduction bands in single-walled carbon nanotubes (SWNTs) through the direct observation of spin-singlet transverse dark excitons using polarized photoluminescence excitation spectroscopy.

Infrared Nanocrystals for Space Application: Hardness to Irradiations

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
This article investigates infrared HgTe nanocrystals under X‐ray and ion irradiation, revealing remarkable radiation hardness. It uncovers distinct degradation mechanisms and shows that the nanomaterial outperforms integrated electronics. The results position colloidal nanocrystals as promising candidates for resilient space and harsh‐environment ...

Coherent Control of Nitrogen Nuclear Spins via the VB−${\rm V}_B^-$‐Center in Hexagonal Boron Nitride

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
This study demonstrates coherent control of 15N nuclear spins coupled to VB−${\text{V}}_{\text{B}}^{-}$ centers in isotope‐enriched hexagonal boron nitride. Selective addressing via spin‐state mixing enables Rabi driving, quantum gates, and coherence times exceeding 10 μs$\umu{\rm s}$.

BeSpaceD: Towards a Tool Framework and Methodology for the Specification and Verification of Spatial Behavior of Distributed Software Component Systems [PDF]

open access: yes, 2014
In this report, we present work towards a framework for modeling and checking behavior of spatially distributed component systems. Design goals of our framework are the ability to model spatial behavior in a component oriented, simple and intuitive way ...

Universal Electronic‐Structure Relationship Governing Intrinsic Magnetic Properties in Permanent Magnets

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
Permanent magnets derive their extraordinary strength from deep, universal electronic‐structure principles that control magnetization, anisotropy, and intrinsic performance. This work uncovers those governing rules, examines modern modeling and AI‐driven discovery methods, identifies critical bottlenecks, and reveals electronic fingerprints shared ...
