Multidimensional OMICs reveal ARID1A orchestrated control of DNA damage, splicing, and cell cycle in normal‐like and malignant urothelial cells

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Loss of the frequently mutated chromatin remodeler ARID1A, a subunit of the SWI/SNF cBAF complex, results in less open chromatin, alternative splicing, and the failure to stop cells from progressing through the cell cycle after DNA damage in bladder (cancer) cells. Created in BioRender. Epigenetic regulators, such as the SWI/SNF complex, with important

Induction of Myocardial Infarction in Experimental Animals: A Review [PDF]

open access: yesJournal of Clinical and Diagnostic Research, 2018
Myocardial Infarction (MI) is a major health problem worldwide. Animal models have been used extensively in scientific research. This was intended to help researchers to understand the underlying pathophysiology of MI, compensatory mechanisms involved ...

The Role of mTOR and Injury in Developing Salispheres

open access: yesBiomedicines, 2023
Salispheres are the representative primitive cells of salivary glands grown in vitro in a nonadherent system. In this study, we used the ligation model for salisphere isolation after seven days of obstruction of the main excretory duct of the ...

Structure of a spliceosome remodelled for exon ligation

open access: yesNature, 2017
The spliceosome excises introns from pre-mRNAs in two sequential transesterifications—branching and exon ligation—catalysed at a single catalytic metal site in U6 small nuclear RNA (snRNA).

Escape from TGF‐β‐induced senescence promotes aggressive hallmarks in epithelial hepatocellular carcinoma cells

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Chronic TGF‐β exposure drives epithelial HCC cells from a senescent state to a TGF‐β resistant mesenchymal phenotype. This transition is characterized by the loss of Smad3‐mediated signaling, escape from senescence, enhanced invasiveness and metastatic potential, and upregulation of key resistance modulators such as MARK1 and GRM8, ultimately promoting

Small residual patent ductus arteriosus after surgical ligation in young adult: to close or not to close - a dilemmatic case report

open access: yesThe Pan African Medical Journal, 2021
Percutaneous transcatheter closure has gained acceptance for Patent ductus Arteriosus (PDA) management ever since its introduction, including management for small residual left to right shunt following surgical ligation.

Histone modifications influence the action of Snf2 family remodelling enzymes by different mechanisms [PDF]

open access: yes, 2007
Alteration of chromatin structure by chromatin modifying and remodelling activities is a key stage in the regulation of many nuclear processes. These activities are frequently interlinked, and many chromatin remodelling enzymes contain motifs that ...

ShcD adaptor protein drives invasion of triple negative breast cancer cells by aberrant activation of EGFR signaling

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
We identified adaptor protein ShcD as upregulated in triple‐negative breast cancer and found its expression to be correlated with reduced patient survival and increased invasion in cell models. Using a proteomic screen, we identified novel ShcD binding partners involved in EGFR signaling pathways.

A Case Report of Profuse Bleeding in the Lower Gastrointestinal Tract due to Dieulafoy Lesion in the Rectum

open access: yesActa Medica Indonesiana, 2023
Dieulafoy lesion is a rare condition that usually occurs in cases of gastric bleeding in the upper gastrointestinal tract. However, this condition can also occur in the lower gastrointestinal tract but less frequently.
