Lymphatic drainage of the CNS: effects of lymphatic diversion/ligation on CSF protein transport to plasma

open access: yes, 1997
The plasma recovery of an intraventricularly administered protein was compared before and after lymph diversion/ligation in the same conscious sheep to determine the relative roles of arachnoid villi and lymphatics in the clearance of a cerebral spinal ...

Speeding stroke recovery? A systematic review of amphetamine after stroke [PDF]

open access: yes, 2009
Introduction: The use of drugs to enhance recovery (“rehabilitation pharmacology”) has been assessed. Amphetamine can improve outcome in experimental models of stroke, and several small clinical trials have assessed its use in stroke.

Iterative Selection of DNA Nanostructures for Cellular Uptake

open access: yesAdvanced Materials, EarlyView.
DNA nanostructures are promising cell targeting delivery vehicles for therapeutics, but the targeting behavior is not fully understood. In this study, libraries of DNA nanostructures that can be amplified and sequenced are combined with cellular uptake as a selection pressure to iteratively refine DNA structures taken up in cells to better understand ...

Clinical and MRI long term evolution of intracavernous and carotid ophtalmic artery aneurysms, treated by common carotid ligation.

open access: yes, 1999
In four large, 15-25 mm, internal carotid artery aneurysms (3 intracavernous and 1 carotid ophthalmic), treatment by common carotid ligation was preferred. Pre- and postoperative MRI were obtained, at a delay between 5 to 9 years.

Recombinant Human Interleukin-11 Treatment Enhances Collateral Vessel Growth After Femoral Artery Ligation [PDF]

open access: yes, 2011
Objective— To investigate the role of recombinant human interleukin-11 (rhIL-11) on in vivo mobilization of CD34 + /vascular endothelial growth factor receptor (VEGFR) 2 +

Self‐Assembling Copolymers Encapsulating Single Endothelial Cells Induce Endogenous ECM Deposition and Vascular Regeneration

open access: yesAdvanced Materials, EarlyView.
This study presents the first demonstration of stable sub‐50‐micron single‐cell GPM vesicles fabricated through the intrinsic self‐assembly of an amphiphilic copolymer. Hierarchical assembly of cell containing GPM vesicles into microspheres enable tunable, sustained cell delivery with immune protection.

Programmable Carrier‐Free All‐Enzyme Beads for Modular Continuous‐Flow Biocatalysis

open access: yesAdvanced Materials, EarlyView.
Genetically encoded enzyme building blocks self‐assemble into monodisperse, carrier‐free protein beads via a droplet‐based formulation strategy. These programmable catalytic particles enable modular continuous‐flow biocatalysis, from single‐enzyme reactions to multi‐enzyme cascades and bead–bead coupled reactor systems.

Denervation in Femoral Artery-Ligated Hindlimbs Diminishes Ischemic Recovery Primarily via Impaired Arteriogenesis

open access: yesPLOS ONE, 2016
Multiple factors regulate arteriogenesis. Peripheral nerves play a crucial role in vascular remodeling, but the function of peripheral nerves during arteriogenesis is obscure. Our study investigated the contribution of denervation to arteriogenesis during post-ischemic recovery from hindlimb femoral artery ligation.Sprague-Dawley rats were randomly ...

Attomolar Detection of HIV‐1 With Label‐Free RCA‐rCRISPR on Smartphone

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
A new diagnostic strategy integrating rolling circle amplification (RCA) with a plasmid reporter–based ratiometric CRISPR (rCRISPR) system was developed to detect unfragmented HIV genomes with single‐digit attomolar sensitivity. The method quantifies targets using the plasmid relaxation ratio and employs a smartphone‐based mini‐gel device to enable ...

Impaired cerebral autoregulation in the newborn lamb during recovery from severe, prolonged hypoxia, combined with carotid artery and jugular vein ligation.

open access: yes, 1994
OBJECTIVE: To study the effect of severe prolonged hypoxia combined with ligation of the carotid artery and jugular vein (simulating pre-extracorporeal membrane oxygenation [ECMO] events) on cerebral autoregulation in the newborn lamb.
