The (Glg)ABCs of cyanobacteria: modelling of glycogen synthesis and functional divergence of glycogen synthases in Synechocystis sp. PCC 6803

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
We reconstituted Synechocystis glycogen synthesis in vitro from purified enzymes and showed that two GlgA isoenzymes produce glycogen with different architectures: GlgA1 yields denser, highly branched glycogen, whereas GlgA2 synthesizes longer, less‐branched chains.

Modelling Heterogeneous Anomalous Dynamics of Radiation-Induced Double-Strand Breaks in DNA during Non-Homologous End-Joining Pathway

open access: yesEntropy
The process of end-joining during nonhomologous repair of DNA double-strand breaks (DSBs) after radiation damage is considered. Experimental evidence has revealed that the dynamics of DSB ends exhibit subdiffusive motion rather than simple diffusion with

Le dévouement à la nation. Les combats d’idées entre 1911 et 1914

open access: yesCahiers d’Études Germaniques, 2014
This paper sheds light on the bellicist ideas that, particularly from 1911 onwards, spread amongst the public, the medias and their representatives, thus narrowing down the political options. German professors in particular such as Meinecke, Rickert, von

Structural biology of ferritin nanocages

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Ferritin is a conserved iron‐storage protein that sequesters iron as a ferric mineral core within a nanocage, protecting cells from oxidative damage and maintaining iron homeostasis. This review discusses ferritin biology, structure, and function, and highlights recent cryo‐EM studies revealing mechanisms of ferritinophagy, cellular iron uptake, and ...

Detecting the variance in the one-way light speed for linear motion

open access: yesResults in Optics
A viable solution to detect the one-way speed of light anisotropy in linear motion is by using an Isosceles triangle-shaped design for the experimental setup, from which two light pulses from both ends of one of the triangle’s sides are sent to the same ...

Characterizing the salivary RNA landscape to identify potential diagnostic, prognostic, and follow‐up biomarkers for breast cancer

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
This study explores salivary RNA for breast cancer (BC) diagnosis, prognosis, and follow‐up. High‐throughput RNA sequencing identified distinct salivary RNA signatures, including novel transcripts, that differentiate BC from healthy controls, characterize histological and molecular subtypes, and indicate lymph node involvement.

Of ends and means: Development policy assessment with human development and multiple causality

open access: yesDesarrollo y Sociedad, 2019
Policy assessment often involves the study of outcomes and their causes. Development policy analyses have conventionally used an economistic perspective with a focus mainly on pecuniary indicators and the search for the one model of best fit. However, i)

The P-SSP7 cyanophage has a linear genome with direct terminal repeats.

open access: yesPLoS ONE, 2012
P-SSP7 is a T7-like phage that infects the cyanobacterium Prochlorococcus MED4. MED4 is a member of the high-light-adapted Prochlorococcus ecotypes that are abundant in the surface oceans and contribute significantly to primary production.

Composition measurements of crude oil and process water emulsions using thick-film ultrasonic transducers

open access: yes, 2006
This paper presents an experimental study to investigate the suitability of thick-film ultrasonic transducers for composition measurements in heterogeneous mixtures. Following on from earlier developments [G. Meng, A.J. Jaworski, T. Dyakowski, J.M. Hale,
