Energy Landscapes in Chemical Reactions and Transport

open access: yesChemPhysChem, Volume 26, Issue 6, March 15, 2025.
Kinetics/dynamics of chemical reactivity and transport of chemical species in a solid are both determined by the energy landscape in which they take place. Discussing common grounds but also distinct differences may help in advancing the understanding in both fields.

Light-front quantization of Chern-Simons systems [PDF]

open access: yesEurophysics Letters (EPL), 1996
Light-front quantization of the Chern-Simons theory coupled to complex scalars is performed in the local light-cone gauge following the Dirac procedure. The light-front Hamiltonian turns out to a simple one and the framework may be useful to construct a renormalized field theory of anyons.

The Virial Expansion of the Hydrogen Equation of State in Comparison to PIMC Simulations: The Quasiparticle Concept, IPD, and Ionization Degree

open access: yesContributions to Plasma Physics, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT The properties of plasmas in the low‐density limit are described by virial expansions. Analytical expressions are known for the lowest virial coefficients from Green's function approaches. Recently, accurate path‐integral Monte Carlo (PIMC) simulations were performed for the hydrogen plasma at low densities by Filinov and Bonitz (Phys. Rev.

ZnO Nanowires by Chemical Bath Deposition: A Review on Doping and Functional Devices

open access: yesElectron, EarlyView.
This review reports the most recent and well‐established state‐of‐the‐art and scientific challenges related to the doping of ZnO nanowires by chemical bath deposition, encompassing native point and hydrogen‐related defects, as well as extrinsic dopants.

Materials and Music: Selective Imperfection as a Generative Framework for Analysis, Creativity and Discovery

open access: yesInterdisciplinary Materials, EarlyView.
Vibrations in matter, from spider webs to molecules, water to flames, share a grammar with music. We propose that creativity emerges when constraints force expansion beyond existing possibilities. Selective imperfection restores balance, enabling invention.

Diffraction‐Free Natural Optical Skyrmions and Their Subwavelength Confinement Around Vortices

open access: yesLaser &Photonics Reviews, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Diffraction causes waves to spread out as they propagate freely. The tighter the lateral confinement, the faster the spreading. Past research on how to suppress diffraction has been based on wave engineering and has led so far to idealized waves that, in real settings, eventually diffract.

Complete topological quantization of higher gauge fields

open access: yesSciPost Physics Lecture Notes
After global completion of higher gauge fields (as appearing in higher-dimensional supergravity) by proper flux quantization in extraordinary nonabelian cohomology, the (non-perturbative, renormalized) topological quantum observables and quantum states ...

Recent Advances in Top‐Down Proteomics for Single‐Cell Research

open access: yesMass Spectrometry Reviews, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Individual cells have distinctive molecular characteristics, including biologically relevant proteoforms. Although single‐cell (SC) molecular omics offer unprecedented insights into cellular heterogeneity and function, the characterization of proteoforms in SCs remains an uncharted territory.
