Light curve variations in V471 Tauri

Astrophysics and Space Science, 1986
The light curves of V471 Tau obtained in four successive years from 1981 to 1984 are presented. The light variations due to the tidally distorted red dwarf have been computed and subtracted out from the light curves obtained so far. A pure shape of the wave-like distortion has therefore been derived.

Skysurveys, Light Curves and Statistical Challenges

International Statistical Review, 2015
SummaryResearch in astronomy is undergoing a profound transformation from the study of small samples to the analysis of large‐scale digital surveys of the sky. Ever larger amounts of data and better statistical techniques are being used to address a vast range of astronomical problems, from near‐by asteroids to universe‐wide cosmology.

SN 1987A Light Curves

1991
The observation of the light curves of SN1987A over a wide range of wavelengths is perhaps the most straightforward way of studying the energy generation and dissipation within the supernova. The measurements discussed here were made largely at the SAAO (MENZIES et al. [1], CATCHPOLE et al [2, 3, 4], WHITELOCK et al [5, 6] and the AAO (AITKEN and ROCHE

Light curve variations in ER vulpeculae

Astrophysics and Space Science, 1987
Photoelectric observations of the peculiar eclipsing variable ER Vul were obtained in blue and yellow light, in the 1981 and 1982 observing seasons. The light curves suffer to change in short time-intervals. The wave-like distortion superimposed on the light curves is clearly seen, but sometimes there is no indication about its existence. The migration

Light Curves of Meteors

Nature, 1960
THE luminosity equation for the trail of a meteor is: where I is the luminous intensity at any point of the trail, is the rate of ablation of the meteoroid at that point, ν is the velocity of the meteoroid ...

Light curve analysis of contact binaries: Characteristic quantities of the light curve

Astrophysics and Space Science, 1981
Quantities characterizing light curves of contact binaries of W UMa-type are introduced. For 2700 cases, theoretical light curves of contact binaries are computed by the light curve synthesis method, and characteristic quantities for these light curves are tabulated. An example of application of the table to the light curve analysis of contact binaries
