The Light-Cone Wave Function of the Pion [PDF]

open access: yes, 2000
The light-cone wave function of the pion is calculated within the Nambu-Jona-Lasinio model. The result is used to derive the pion electromagnetic form factor, charge radius, structure function, pi-gamma transition form factor and distribution amplitude ...

Lenses for Light Distribution [PDF]

open access: yesProceedings of the Physical Society of London, 1915
The principle on which lenses for securing a required distribution of light from a given source have been designed is illustrated by a two-dimensional example. The principle employed is to divide the incident and emergent energy into a number of equal parts, and compute the lens system so that the rays which separate off these portions of incident ...

The (Glg)ABCs of cyanobacteria: modelling of glycogen synthesis and functional divergence of glycogen synthases in Synechocystis sp. PCC 6803

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
We reconstituted Synechocystis glycogen synthesis in vitro from purified enzymes and showed that two GlgA isoenzymes produce glycogen with different architectures: GlgA1 yields denser, highly branched glycogen, whereas GlgA2 synthesizes longer, less‐branched chains.

Mixtures of fermionic atoms in an optical lattice

open access: yes, 2006
A mixture of light and heavy spin-polarized fermionic atoms in an optical lattice is considered. Tunneling of the heavy atoms is neglected such that they are only subject to thermal fluctuations.

Structural biology of ferritin nanocages

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Ferritin is a conserved iron‐storage protein that sequesters iron as a ferric mineral core within a nanocage, protecting cells from oxidative damage and maintaining iron homeostasis. This review discusses ferritin biology, structure, and function, and highlights recent cryo‐EM studies revealing mechanisms of ferritinophagy, cellular iron uptake, and ...

A novel multilayer cultivation strategy improves light utilization and fruit quality in plant factories for tomato production

open access: yesFrontiers in Horticulture
Plant factories using artificial lighting are a promising solution to food security and urban agricultural challenges. However, cultivation of fruit-bearing crops such as tomatoes remains limited due to their high light demands, long growth periods, and ...

On the renormalization of quasi parton distribution

open access: yes, 2015
Recent developments showed that light-cone parton distributions can be studied by investigating the large momentum limit of the hadronic matrix elements of spacelike correlators, which are known as quasi parton distributions.

Angular distribution of diffusely transmitted light

open access: yesPhysical Review E, 1996
The angular dependence of light diffusely transmitted through an opaque medium is shown to depend directly on the reflective nature of the sample boundary, independent of scattering anisotropy. Experimental data are presented for glass frits and for liquid samples, such as colloidal suspensions and aqueous foams, contained in glass cells and placed in ...

Transferrin receptor 1‐mediated iron uptake supports thermogenic activation in human cervical‐derived adipocytes

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
In this study, we found that human cervical‐derived adipocytes maintain intracellular iron level by regulating the expression of iron transport‐related proteins during adrenergic stimulation. Melanotransferrin is predicted to interact with transferrin receptor 1 based on in silico analysis.

A luminaire with variable light distribution

open access: yesE3S Web of Conferences, 2018
Industrial facilities such as production and storage halls are a specific environment, which is usually characterized by a large usable area, which is managed in a way that brings together in the given area many functional zones for various purposes ...
