Intelligent Flood Fill or: The Use of Edge Detection in Image Object Extraction

open access: yes, 2005
Content-Based Image Retrieval systems can often return poor results when attempting to match images with extraneous feature information such as complex backgrounds, shadows, or frames.

Stimulator of interferon genes agonist augmented antitumor immunity of osimertinib in Egfr‐mutated lung cancer

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Combining osimertinib with the STING agonist ADU‐S100 activates innate and adaptive immunity to overcome the non‐inflamed microenvironment of Egfr‐mutant lung cancer. This combination increases NK and CD8+ T‐cell infiltration, associated with activation of the STING‐IRF3 pathway and local immunogenic cell death.

Research on preparation and thermal performance of carbon sphere-modified PCM perlite-paraffin composite

open access: yesInternational Journal of Thermofluids
A carbon sphere modification approach was developed to construct a perlite/paraffin composite phase change material (CS-PCM) with both high photothermal conversion efficiency and stable thermal energy storage capability. The surface of the perlite matrix

Light extraction of GaN LEDs with 2-D photonic crystal structure

open access: yes, 2009
Ultraviolet photo-lithography is employed to introduce two-dimensional (2D) photonic crystal (PC) structure on the top surface of GaN-based light emitting diode (LED).

Loss of IGF‐1R impairs DNA‐PKcs recruitment to chromatin leading to defective end‐joining

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
IGF‐1R promotes radioresistance by facilitating DNA‐PKcs recruitment to chromatin, enabling non‐homologous end‐joining (NHEJ) repair of double‐strand breaks. Inhibition or loss of IGF‐1R disrupts this recruitment to damage sites, driving compensatory reliance on microhomology‐mediated end‐joining (MMEJ) repair.

Effects of rare earth Ce on TiN inclusion modifications in 20CrMnTi steel under deoxygenation conditions of Si–Ca–Ba alloy

open access: yesJournal of Materials Research and Technology
20CrMnTi steel is widely used in the gear manufacturing field of engineering machinery. The addition of Ti element to steel can effectively improve its low-temperature impact toughness and enhance its mechanical properties.

USP29‐regulated noncanonical stabilization of the hypoxia‐inducible factor‐α in aggressive prostate cancer

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
We identify USP29 as the only DUB mirroring CA9 expression, a marker of hypoxia and HIF pathway activation associated with PCA aggressiveness. USP29 stabilizes HIF‐1α and HIF‐2α via a noncanonical mechanism that is independent of PHD/pVHL activity yet relies on proteasomal regulation, establishing USP29 as a previously unrecognized regulator of hypoxic

Self‐Aligned Pillar Arrays Embedding Site‐Controlled Single Quantum Dots for Bright Nonclassical Light Emission

open access: yesAdvanced Photonics Research
This work presents a practical realization of a foundational approach for fabricating arrays of self‐aligned micro‐ and nanopillar structures incorporating individual site‐controlled quantum dots (QDs) for bright nonclassical light extraction.
