An Improved Energy Management Strategy for Hybrid Energy Storage System in Light Rail Vehicles

open access: yesEnergies, 2018
A single-objective optimization energy management strategy (EMS) for an onboard hybrid energy storage system (HESS) for light rail (LR) vehicles is proposed. The HESS uses batteries and supercapacitors (SCs).

ANALYSIS OF DYNAMICS OF AMETRO VEHICLEMODEL WITH DIFFERENTIALWHEELSETS [PDF]

open access: yesTransport Problems, 2017
The operating conditions of light rail vehicles (trams, metro vehicles) are predominantly different compared with those of passenger or freight trains. The increased number of low-radii curves has a negative effect on wheel–rail interaction.

Track Geometry for Light Rail Systems

open access: yesTransportation Research Record: Journal of the Transportation Research Board, 2010
Light rail systems are characterized by running over the streets, with semiexclusive (or reserved) right-of-way. This factor leads to the necessity of adapting the track geometry to that existing in the streets. This adaptation sometimes leads to great challenges: strong vertical grades, horizontal circular curves with small radius without ...
