Rigorous bounds on light-by-light scattering

open access: yesJournal of High Energy Physics, 2022
We bound EFT coefficients appearing in 2 → 2 photon scattering amplitudes in four dimensions. After reviewing unitarity and positivity conditions in this context, we use dispersion relations and crossing symmetry to compute sum rules and null constraints.

Scattering of light nuclei [PDF]

open access: yesEPJ Web of Conferences, 2010
The exact treatment of nuclei starting from the constituent nucleons and the fundamental interactions among them has been a long-standing goal in nuclear physics.

Elastic Light Scattering by Semiconductor Quantum Dots [PDF]

open access: yes, 2006
Elastic light scattering by low-dimensional semiconductor objects is investigated theoretically. The differential cross section of resonant light scattering on excitons in quantum dots is calculated. The polarization and angular distribution of scattered

Sum rules for light-by-light scattering [PDF]

open access: yesPhysical Review Letters, 2010
We derive a set of sum rules for the light-by-light scattering and fusion: $\gamma\gamma \to all$, and verify them in lowest order QED calculations. A prominent implication of these sum rules is the superconvergence of the helicity-difference total cross-

Modulated 3D cross-correlation light scattering: improving turbid sample characterization [PDF]

open access: yesRev. Sci. Instrum. 81, 123107 (2010), 2010
Accurate characterization using static light scattering (SLS) and dynamic light scattering (DLS) methods mandates the measurement and analysis of singly-scattered light.

Light-Light Scattering [PDF]

open access: yesarXiv, 2011
For a long time, it is believed that the light by light scattering is described properly by the Lagrangian density obtained by Heisenberg and Euler. Here, we present a new calculation which is based on the modern field theory technique. It is found that the light-light scattering is completely different from the old expression.

Light-by-light scattering in double-logarithmic approximation

open access: yesEuropean Physical Journal C: Particles and Fields, 2018
In the present paper we consider the elastic $$2 \rightarrow 2$$ 2→2 -scattering of virtual photons at high energies in the forward kinematics at zero and non-zero values of t.

Compton Scattering on Light Nuclei

open access: yesEPJ Web of Conferences, 2010
Compton scattering on light nuclei (A = 2, 3) has emerged as an effective avenue to search for signatures of neutron polarizabilities, both spin–independent and spin–dependent ones.

Dispersive approach to hadronic light-by-light scattering [PDF]

open access: yesJournal of High Energy Physics, 2014
Based on dispersion theory, we present a formalism for a model-independent evaluation of the hadronic light-by-light contribution to the anomalous magnetic moment of the muon. In particular, we comment on the definition of the pion pole in this framework

Light Scattering by Cholesteric Skyrmions [PDF]

open access: yesPhysical Review E, 2018
We study the light scattering by localized quasi planar excitations of a Cholesteric Liquid Crystal known as spherulites. Due to the anisotropic optical properties of the medium and the peculiar shape of the excitations, we quantitatively evaluate the ...
