Observation of Pulsed γ-Rays Above 25 GeV from the Crab Pulsar with MAGIC

open access: yes, 2008
One fundamental question about pulsars concerns the mechanism of their pulsed electromagnetic emission. Measuring the high-end region of a pulsar's spectrum would shed light on this question.

UiO‐66 metal–organic frameworks in biomedicine: From structural tunability to bioimaging, photodiagnostics, and photodynamic cancer therapy

open access: yesFEBS Open Bio, EarlyView.
UiO‐66(Zr) metal–organic frameworks are chemically stable, biocompatible, and highly tunable nanomaterials. Their modular structure enables controlled drug delivery, multimodal bioimaging, and light‐activated photodynamic therapy, supporting integrated diagnostic and therapeutic (theranostic) applications in cancer and biomedical research.

In-Situ Surface Inspection Using White Light Channelled Spectrum Interferometer

open access: yes
We introduce a new environmentally robust optical interferometry system for fast surface profile measurement. The proposed white light channelled spectrum Interferometer (WLCSI) is effective for applications in on-line surface inspection because it ...

Effect of photoactivated disinfection using light in the blue spectrum.

open access: yes, 2016
BACKGROUND Light in the blue spectrum is well known to cure composites. This in vitro-study was aimed to analyze a potential antimicrobial activity when combined with riboflavin as a photosensitizer.

The Spectrum of the Aurora and of the Zodiacal Light [PDF]

open access: yesNature, 1873
UPON a perusal of the chapter in Dr. Schellen's “Spectrum Analysis,” specially bearing on the above subjects, I have been led to think—firstly, that our present knowledge of these spectra is far from complete; and secondly, that so far as such knowledge extends, it hardly warrants some of the conclusions arrived at in Dr. Schellen's work.

Hyperactive ice‐binding proteins stabilize cell membranes and improve resistance to dehydration stress in Caenorhabditis elegans

open access: yesFEBS Open Bio, EarlyView.
TisIBP8, a fungal‐derived hyperactive ice‐binding protein, helps Caenorhabditis elegans survive dehydration. It localizes near cell membranes, reduces cell damage, and helps maintain membrane structure during drying. These results suggest that ice‐binding proteins can protect cells from dehydration stress as well as freezing stress.

Molecular characterization of covRS mutations in M1UK Streptococcus pyogenes

open access: yesFEBS Open Bio, EarlyView.
Group A Streptococcus (GAS) acquires covRS mutations driving a hypervirulent bacterial state, frequently associated with invasive disease‐like necrotizing fasciitis. We demonstrate that the newly emerged M1UK GAS lineage can also acquire these mutations.

White Light Channeled Spectrum Interferometry for the On-line Surface Inspection

open access: yes
In the industries making high volume as well as large area foil products and flexible electronics, the deposition and patterning of multi-layer thin films on large area substrates is often involved in the manufacturing processes.

Algae:Halo: Light As A Spectrum

open access: yes
Algae:Halo was created in response to the Biological Interfaces brief provided by the MA Biodesign course of Central Saint Martins University. Through the observation of a Natural Ecosystem, we would develop a narrative that would inform our research and design processes for the duration of the three-month project.
