Lamps for light-trapping

New Zealand Entomologist, 1977
Upton's work suggests that this coating has decreased the long-wavelength ultraviolet output of high pressure mercury vapour lamps from 3 to 1% of the initial wattage, and has removed it almost completely in the case of "blended" lamps. This means that all coated lamps which do not require a choke have low performance in light traps, and choked lamps ...

Large area colloidal photonic crystals for light trapping in flexible organic photovoltaic modules applied using a roll-to-roll Langmuir-Blodgett method

Solar Energy Materials and Solar Cells, 2018
For the first time, the application of large-area 2D colloidal photonic crystals for light trapping in flexible OPV modules is demonstrated via the study of a broad range of light trapping structures deposited simply and cheaply using our novel roll-to ...

Trapping Light in a Crystal

Conference on Lasers and Electro-Optics/International Quantum Electronics Conference, 2009
We propose a protocol for quantum light storage in solids, taking advantage of the specific properties of rare earth ions doped crystals. As other protocols, light is slowed down, then stopped. Preliminary results are reported.

Trapped quantum light

EPL (Europhysics Letters), 2015
Matter-field interaction finds its simplest implementation in Cavity Quantum Electrodynamics (CQED). A single two-level atom is coupled to a few photons stored in a single mode of a high-quality resonator. In the strong-coupling regime, the coherent atom-field interaction overwhelms dissipative processes.

A Light-Activated On-Off Switch for the C.D.C. Light Trap

Journal of Medical Entomology, 1977
An inexpensive addition to the C.D.C. light trap (Sudia & Chamberlain, 1962, Mosq. News 22 : 126–29) permits automatic on-off switching at any ambient light level specified by the investigator. The modified trap will switch on under decreasing illumination and switch off when the same light level occurs at sunrise. Identical sampling effort can thus be
