Light- and heavy-water dynamics
Physica B: Condensed Matter, 2000Abstract We show first results of an analysis of the dynamics of water as observed by neutron scattering, based on a model common to both isotopic forms, H2O and D2O. Using incoherent scattering results from H2O, and the liquid structure factor of D2O, we show that within the framework of an approximation of decoupled motions, the H2O and D2O spectra

Hundreds of thousands of tons of tritiated light water have been accumulating from the enterprises of nuclear fuel cycles around the world. The Dual-Temperature Water-Hydrogen (DTWH) process looks like the only practical alternative to Combined Electrolysis and Catalytic Exchange (CECE).

Decomposition of Water by Light
Nature, 1960WE wish to direct attention to two simple cases in which the decomposition of water (or some other oxidation-reduction reaction) can be effected by light of practically any wave-length, and which may play some part in Nature1,2.

Water drops are present throughout our daily lives. Microscopic droplets create fog and mist, and large drops fall as rain. Because of their shape and refractive properties, water drops exhibit a wide variety of visual effects. If not directly illuminated by a light source, they are difficult to see.

The Scattering of Light by Water
Journal of the Optical Society of America, 1937By means of a quartz spectrograph and recording densitometer measurements were made throughout the spectral region from 5790 to 2536A of the relative intensities of light scattered by pure water. The scattering coefficient was found to increase with decreasing wave-length in fair agreement with the λ−4f(μ) expression of the density fluctuation theory.
