Investigation on Three-Hump Phosphor-Coated White Light-Emitting Diodes for Healthy Lighting by Genetic Algorithm

open access: yesIEEE Photonics Journal, 2019
In this paper, we carry out the theoretical spectral optimization and perform experiments by varying temperature and electrical current primarily on one-phosphor-coated three-hump white light-emitting diode (LED) for healthy indoor or outdoor lighting by

TRAIL‐PEG‐Apt‐PLGA nanosystem as an aptamer‐targeted drug delivery system potential for triple‐negative breast cancer therapy using in vivo mouse model

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Aptamers are used both therapeutically and as targeting agents in cancer treatment. We developed an aptamer‐targeted PLGA–TRAIL nanosystem that exhibited superior therapeutic efficacy in NOD/SCID breast cancer models. This nanosystem represents a novel biotechnological drug candidate for suppressing resistance development in breast cancer.

Improved Crystalline Quality of AlN by Epitaxial Lateral Overgrowth Using Two-Phase Growth Method for Deep-Ultraviolet Stimulated Emission

open access: yesIEEE Photonics Journal, 2016
We report on the maskless epitaxial lateral overgrowth (ELOG) of the AlN layer on trench-patterned AlN/sapphire templates by metal-organic chemical vapor deposition (MOCVD).

Tumour–host interactions in Drosophila: mechanisms in the tumour micro‐ and macroenvironment

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
This review examines how tumour–host crosstalk takes place at multiple levels of biological organisation, from local cell competition and immune crosstalk to organism‐wide metabolic and physiological collapse. Here, we integrate findings from Drosophila melanogaster studies that reveal conserved mechanisms through which tumours hijack host systems to ...

The impact of the internet of lighting on the office lighting value network [PDF]

open access: yes, 2018
Lighting systems in offices are becoming an infrastructure to connect people, devices, and systems to each other and to the Internet, creating an Internet of Lighting (IoL).

Dual-Emissive and Color-Tunable Mn-Doped InP/ZnS Quantum Dots via a Growth-Doping Method

open access: yesNanoscale Research Letters, 2018
In this letter, dual-emissive and color-tunable Mn-doped InP/ZnS quantum dots (Mn:InP/ZnS QDs) with the absolute photoluminescence quantum yield (PL QY) up to 78% were successfully synthesized via a growth-doping method.

Dimethyl fumarate combined with cisplatin at subcytotoxic doses sensitizes cervical cancer toward ferroptosis and apoptosis through GSH restriction and p53 (re)activation

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Dimethyl fumarate (DMF) reduces growth of HPV‐positive cervical cancer spheroids and induces ferroptosis in cervical cancer cells via blocking SLC7A11/Glutathione (GSH) axis. Combination of subcytotoxic doses of DMF and cisplatin (CDDP) further suppresses spheroid growth and drives cell death in 2D culture models.

Energy efficient innovative lighting and energy supply solutions in developing countries

open access: yes, 2007
The vast majority of the rural population in the de veloping countries is out of reach of electricity and hence has to depend on the tradi tional fuels to fulfil the daily energy needs.

Network divergence analysis identifies adaptive gene modules and two orthogonal vulnerability axes in pancreatic cancer

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Tumors contain diverse cellular states whose behavior is shaped by context‐dependent gene coordination. By comparing gene–gene relationships across biological contexts, we identify adaptive transcriptional modules that reorganize into distinct vulnerability axes.

Lighting preference profiles of users in an open office environment [PDF]

open access: yes, 2017
Offices are transforming into multi-user, open space environments to stimulate interaction between people and optimize the usage of space. Due to design practices, lighting systems in these multi-user environments are implemented as a regular grid of ...
