Application of Lightning Location System Data for Designing the External Lightning Protection System

open access: yes, 2014
This paper deals with designing and positioning of air-termination system and analyzes the effectiveness of external lightning protection system (LPS). The electro-geometric model based on rolling sphere method was used to determine the optimal height and number of air- termination installations in the oil refinery according to standard IEC 62305.

Development and validation of a deep survival model to predict time to seizure from routine electroencephalography

open access: yesEpilepsia, EarlyView.
Abstract Objective This study was undertaken to develop and validate a deep survival model (EEGSurvNet) that analyzes routine electroencephalography (EEG) to predict individual seizure risk over time, comparing its performance to traditional clinical predictors such as interictal epileptiform discharges (IEDs).

Time‐Domain Geoelectrical Modeling and Experimental Validation of Ground Potential Rise in Multilayer Soil Structures during Fault Events

open access: yesEnergy Science &Engineering, EarlyView.
This study develops a time‐domain geoelectrical model of ground potential rise (GPR) in multilayer soil that couples electromagnetic field theory with nonlinear fault arc resistance. Finite‐element simulations calibrated against scaled fault‐injection experiments reproduce measured GPR and step/touch voltages within 4.7% error, revealing that steady ...

Evaluation of Lightning Forecasting Based on One Lightning Parameterization Scheme and Two Diagnostic Methods

open access: yesAtmosphere, 2018
Lightning forecasting is a vital item in server convective system short-time forecasting. However, lightning parameterization in mesoscale numerical prediction models is still in its early stages of development. Several lightning parameterization schemes

Seasonal Variability of Key Climate Parameters in the Mediterranean Region: Distinct Features From A Long‐Term (1940–2023) Analysis

open access: yesInternational Journal of Climatology, EarlyView.
The intra‐annual variability of the Mediterranean climate does not include an even transition from winter to summer regime and vice versa. A detailed examination of the long‐term (84 years) mean intra‐annual variations of key parameters reveals remarkable and climatologically important peculiarities. ABSTRACT The intra‐annual variability of atmospheric

Environmental Impact of Silicic Magmatism in Large Igneous Province Events

open access: yesGeophysical Monograph Series, Page 133-151., 2021

Exploring the links between Large Igneous Provinces and dramatic environmental impact

An emerging consensus suggests that Large Igneous Provinces (LIPs) and Silicic LIPs (SLIPs) are a significant driver of dramatic global environmental and biological changes, including mass extinctions.
