The Investigation of the Lightning Overvoltage of Secondary Cable of Substation

2020 IEEE International Conference on High Voltage Engineering and Application (ICHVE), 2020
Lightning activities are easy to cause secondary equipment fault, affecting the safe and reliable operation of the substation. In this paper, the lightning current, tower, insulator string, overhead line, secondary cable, transformer, capacitor voltage transformer (CVT), earthing network and arrester are modeled by EMTP software.

Transient modeling of the wind farms in order to analysis the lightning related overvoltages

Renewable Energy, 2019
During transient analysis of lightning surge, the distributed stray capacitances on wind turbine structure and the grounding system of tower have a considerable effect on the generated overvoltagese that must be included in the calculation.

Lightning overvoltages in wires within the buildings

IEEE 1991 International Symposium on Electromagnetic Compatibility, 2002
Electromagnetic fields generated by lightning currents may cause damage or interference in the operation of electronic and electric systems. Particularly hazardous to equipment operating within a building is a direct lightning strike to the building or its vicinity.

Lightning and overvoltage protection of wind power farms

2011 International Symposium on Lightning Protection, 2011
Wind power farms are prone to lightning due to their height, especially when installed off-shore. Very different voltage stresses are expected compared to three phase power systems. Test standards, technical specifications and application principles have been developed only recently on CENELEC level.

A system for experimental studies of lightning currents and overvoltages

2017 International Symposium on Lightning Protection (XIV SIPDA), 2017
This paper presents the main features of a system for measuring lightning currents and induced voltages on an instrumented tower and an experimental line, respectively. The tower height is 70 m, and the line, which has a non-conventional configuration, is 800 m long.

Lightning Induced Overvoltages In The Electric Network Of A Ship

2018 IEEE International Conference on High Voltage Engineering and Application (ICHVE), 2018
In the present work the structure of a metallic ship and its electric grid with the proper representation of the main cabling routes and loads are designed in a suitable software. Electromagnetic simulations of a lightning strike in various strike positions are carried out and the surges generated at points of interest across the electric network are ...

Study of lightning overvoltage transients using ATP

2015 International Conference on Circuits, Power and Computing Technologies [ICCPCT-2015], 2015
Rapid development of transmission and distribution network requires an in-depth research and development work for their proper operation. Protection of the components used in transmission and distribution substations is one of the most important factors which must be taken care of in a very efficient manner. In this paper the analysis of lightning over

Analysis of Lightning-Induced Overvoltage Waveform Parameters

2018 34th International Conference on Lightning Protection (ICLP), 2018
As the structure of power grid becomes more and more complex, the previous lightning overvoltage statistical waveform is no longer suitable for the current power system. So the lightning overvoltage need to be measured to restatistic. In this paper, the measuring system based on Pockels effects and a method of waveform processing are proposed to ...
